I have been working at Baxter full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Overall generally supportive. Good people overall. The corporation as a whole has good intentions. Regional offices have a decent amount of autonomy while still aligning with global direction.

    Cons

Company is riddled with politics. A decent amount of time is spent on navigating through people internally. This back end workload generally amounts to little progress on the customer end.

I have been working at Baxter full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

People are proud of products offered. Pay and benefits are Ok when compared against the industry. Baxter is a company with a good reputation and values the communities where they operate.

    Cons

The revolving door at Round Lake will not stop spinning. Talent arrives and leaves soon to greener pastures, many of them are resent grads. Knowledge has shifted from corporate to the manufacturing plants, but decisions are still made at RL, intentions may be good, but results are not. Is very frustrating trying to explain to a young engineer that what they are doing is incorrect and having to pick up the pieces of the mess once they move elsewhere. Bureaucracy is running everything, yes running, but in the wrong direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please try to hire and retain people with experience, is good to have a mix of "old and new" but is not worth it to save money the way it is done now.

I worked at Baxter full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Initially had good work/life balance. Good benefits.

    Cons

Management went from having a great rapport with employees, to having no backbone, to horrible within a couple of years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees are not slaves or mere cannon fodder. They are not there to serve the "masters" in upper management. I *quit* after 12 years of dedication because of poor leadership, both at an immediate level and on up the food chain.

I worked at Baxter full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

work life balance was great, office culture was good

    Cons

leadership in certain departments was horrible. Expectations were too high for the amount of responsibility they handed out. There were favorites and it showed. If you were a favorite, you would move on in the department or company, if not you moved nowhere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to actually do the work that they are handing out for an extended period of time in the amount of hours that they require (no more) and actually see how difficult things can be.
