    New owners (Brown & Brown, Inc.) are a bit old fashioned in the way they deal with employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Try to get the Brown & Brown Leaders to be more aware of the obstacles that the middle management people have put in the way of getting work done. The middle managers have built up kingdoms and it is a very odd situation.

    Pros

    Great culture - work hard, play hard mentality. Employees are passionate about what they do and passionate about delivering results for clients

    Cons

    There is a vast disproportion of wealth within the company. The underlings work extremely hard, while the senior/executive management works just hard enough and the lower level employees are not compensated fairly for the work that they do.

    Pros

    Find a position on the brokering / underwriting side of the business; this group is seen as the revenue-generating part of the business and treated as more valuable than other areas. Worked with some great employees.

    Cons

    Working as part of the back office or as a third-party administrator is not valued. Upper management did not seem to trust each other.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Balance the front sell (brokering) to the on-going client relationships (third party administration).

    Culture of the company, hard work and dedicated employees that are always willing to contribute to team work.

    Cons

    Some managers do not communicate clearly but expect their direct reports to understand what is expected.

    Clear communication is very important and will overall help the company to be more successful. Make sure that the service folks are given fair bonuses as they work very hard and are dedicated to giving the best service in the business.

    Very talented coworkers, liberal PTO program and T and E budgets

    Cons

    There is no leadership at this company. There are no performance reviews and no clear lines of career development. There is an amazing sense of desperation since the sale to B and B. It doesn't seem like Beecher is meeting expectations, and the parent company is already making really awful changes to culture and service model.

    Start over with a talented management team

    Pros

    The culture of the company was great; everybody works well together and are always willing to help each other to achieve the same goal "success". One of the best places I've worked with the exception on the communication.

    Cons

    Some managers need to learn how to communicate better so there is no question in their expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need to be fair to all employees regarding flexibility, its obvious that some managers allow for more flexibility to people that are married and/or those that have children as they seem to be allowed more flexibility with little or no repercussion.
