Former Employee – worked at Boots part-time for less than a year
Pros – Other staff are friendly; wage is decent; discount card is generous; customers who shop there are generally friendly too.
Cons – Not much opportunity to progress; i.e. it makes more sense to apply as an external candidate for senior positions.

Former Employee – worked at Boots for more than 10 years
Pros – Great company values
Customer focused
Regular pay days
Good discounts
Cons – Company values are constantly discussed - these values are not always delivered from the top of the organisation
Low pay compared to other similar roles with other companies - hard to gain worklife balance, it's the norm to work all hours to constantly deliver
It takes more than company discount to retain employees
Advice to Senior Management – Consistency is a challenge for your focus - particularly performance rating within teams.
The new Boots approach has changed the way people feel about working for you.
People feel undervalued.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend

Former Employee – worked at Boots
Pros – Head office - lots of good people to work with and a good environment to work in. Decisions usually based on facts rather than hunch.
Cons – Lots of senior managers so decisions usually taken at a high level rather than delegated. Lots of work required to support proposals, then often re-worked when next senior stakeholder has a question. To succeed often means working long hours. Lots of meetings so work gets done early morning or in evenings.
Advice to Senior Management – Let your teams get on with it!
