Great company to work for (if you get into the right team)

Senior Software Development Engineer (Current Employee)

Pros* Having been part of an R&D team since the beginning, its been a great experience to work on cutting edge technology.
    * Friendly folks and teams
    * If you are considering Omaha, its a great place to settle down with low cost housing and short commutes.

Cons* Lot of politics goes at the management level.
    * Salaries are not great (if you are coming from the west or east coast) , but its on par with companies in the mid west.
    * If you don't get into the R&D teams, then day to day work can get monotonous *mainly for the adventurous folks.

Okay, small to medium sized company with lack of good management

Test Engineer (Former Employee) Denver, CO (US)

ProsBenefits; some flexibility in work environment and schedule; work from home capability and hours worked.

ConsPoor management style and problem with trust and integrity.

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed more experienced managers that can lead a team within Agile/Scrum methodology.

Not a Safe place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsNo good things except good at one thing that is flexible to work from home

ConsEven the un-experienced employees also can become managers at this company. Any thing can happen in this company
from the past 2-3 years there are no projects implemented successfully there is no improvement in revenue of the company as a result to compensate lot of laid-offs due to lack of experience for the managers they don't know how to keep there employees feel there job is secure and safe. as a lot of moves from company looking for better opportunities outside of the company

If they don't meet the revenue they meet by laying off the employees.
At this company you should have the command and dont fear about reporting back to the higher authorities these are the things that are going on for the past 2-3 years

    Negatives slightly outweigh the positives

    Systems Administrator (Current Employee)

ProsWork schedule is pretty flexible. Pay is pretty good. Seems like most lower management is down to earth and good to work for.

ConsLeadership communicates with employees like they are marketing to their clients. Middle management stuck in perpetual bureaucracies where progress is measured in millimeters. Company is consumed by endless paperwork. Every new project is a priority with not enough manpower to keep up.

Advice to Senior ManagementCSG used to be a place people raved about working at, no longer. Stop investing in resiliency after resiliency plan and try looking to your employees for solutions. Morale is at an all time low, time to act.

Good employer, but not as great as it once was

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsPretty flexible work schedule. Casual dress code. Super nice people. Decent pay. Broad use of technology provides many job opportunities.

ConsNot the company it used to be. Seems to be confused on if it wants to go wide or go deep. Chicago influence has changed the once-wonderful Omaha / Denver culture.

Advice to Senior ManagementToo many major changes all at once. No one feels setup to succeed.

    Great place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsCSG is a great place to work, the work is challenging and the coworkers are great. The benefits are good and the managers treat you with respect. The culture and values of the company are great, it feels like a family and you are treated like one.

ConsI can't think of any cons currently. The clients are demanding as should be expected.

    OK place to work

Senior Software Development Engineer (Former Employee) Omaha, NE (US)

ProsVery good source control and build management.
Most people are great to work with.
Usually up to date with latest software.
    Causal dress code.
Flexible hours accommodate people whose children have early morning school activities.

Thanks to some good management choices, software development practices visibly improved over what they used to be in 2008.

ConsFrequent layoffs in the past 5 years.
    Several multi-million dollar project failures.

Advice to Senior ManagementI watched members of another development team quit one after another after another due to one specific toxic individual. How did management allow this to happen?

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
