    Pros

Great benefits. Medical, Dental, Vision, generous sick and vacation time, free cable if you live in the footprint, tuition reimbursement up to $5,000 a year, 401K, a Christmas bonus and access to Bethpage Credit Union

    Cons

Very hard to get promoted or move up in this company. YOU MUST KNOW SOMEONE, sleep with someone, be related to someone or blackmail someone to enjoy any sort of advancement. HR is a joke, the employees call it the department that hates humans. Nothing is confidential...ever. If you make a complaint, go on FMLA or have any sort of interaction with HR, everyone knows within 48 hours. Management likes to keep their employees in fear of their jobs by constantly threatening lay offs or reminding people they are lucky to have a job. There is no employee development. Even tuition reimbursement is a joke. You submit for it with all the proper paper work and there is a 50% chance you will not get paid, your paperwork magically gets lost half a dozen times. If you try to speak up for yourself, you will feel the wrath of retaliation. It is not uncommon for lies to be placed in employees files by "human resources". There is no incentive to improve your performance or perform at a high level. You will not be awarded with a promotion, you will not get a raise; your yearly raise is manipulated to keep you at an average performance level. That is nothing compared to your co workers harassing you because you are doing a better job than them. The yearly review is a joke. Management is encouraged to manipulate everyone's review and keep them in the average range. NO matter how many times you make and exceed your numbers, work late, come in early, there will always be a reason to keep you at an average performance. Management does not care about your work life balance. They will however be annoyed when you contact them on off hours. Quote "the building better be on fire" Your schedule will constantly change at the drop of a dime. If you have children, make sure you have a good support system for childcare. You will work weekends and nights and that will always be changing. You will be pitted against your co workers for better schedules, hunger games style. I have observed sexual harassment, HR deemed the complaining woman was found to be "lying". Even though there were many witnesses to the harassment. Years later the predator is still working in a supervisory role while the victim has long been laid off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I wish you would be more empathetic to your employees. You should give hard workers a chance to be promoted and stop handing jobs to your friends. You should read and practice the company values. They are there for you too. It isn't just wallpaper. I feel the CEO and his father want to have a better company and experience for employees but there is too many bad apples mocking it up. I think they need to get a fresher management team all the way up to executive VP level, all these people have been in power for 20+ years. They band together and protect each other. They are hurting the employees and customers while they pocket 6 figure salaries.

    Pros

pay is great,if you're ambitious you can make a decent living.hours are average and the people who work there are great.

    Cons

you are a NUMBER, no matter how close you may be with anybody, if you do not meet the constantly changing expectations you will be out the door.coaching and development is minimal unless you're a top performer.,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

invest in the staff you have now and turnover rate will drop, you spend more on training than you would if you took the time to pull those in need and develop their skills.

    Cons

Management is horrible! Don't buy in to the company mentality because middle-upper management are only looking out for themselves.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems

    Pros

Good pay. Good benefits. You work with many very hard working and talented employees.

    Cons

Stressful place to work. Executive Managment pushes the employees to the max. While this results in a lot of good work it also can result in burnout and leave/ in which case you will probably get laid off even if you had a really good run before you ran into getting overwhelmed.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider people's lives. Encourage people to take lunch and take vacation time and not just as lip service. The company should actively avoid and care about employee burnout - and try to be proactive in improving the employee experience. Yes - the pay is good, but that doesn't give license to expect employees to endure constant overload and a sustained comitenenr that has little forgiveness for an employee who might be tempararily having a difficult time / likely as a result to work at stress. Either way / those still with the company consider themselves lucky to be employed - but very powerless against a constant trend that expects more and more.

I have been working at Cablevision Systems full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Good hours. Great supervisors. Decent pay with great benefits (Free health and dental insurance under $50,000/year, cost is very low beyond that). Very easy to get promoted and plenty of opportunity within the company.

    Cons

Company shoots itself in the foot when it comes to policy changes, Customers can be difficult to work with. Technology used in field isn't as efficient as it can be. Safety policies seem to cover the company legally rather than promote a safe working environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would say the best thing they could do is to focus on the technology (iPads, field service software, Radio Frequency meters) that techs use day in and day out. Many hours are wasted jumping through hoops and trying to get the software used to fill out work orders and referrals to work. A lot of the departments that do certain jobs can be condensed into just field service, which would promote efficiency and more work accomplished. Also, many different tests that we have to run are time consuming and take away from our productivity, as well as interfere with the customers' day or evening. There are more efficient tools for us to work with that would make our jobs easier, which would make customers happier. Consolidating tasks that are done by other departments and giving the techs the ability to accomplish these tasks would pay dividends in efficiency and productivity, which would make for a happier work force as well as a happier customer.

    Pros

Good company, great benefits, pay structure is average, holiday bonus, investment opportunities, and parties are great motivators. Internal opportunities are great, (if not intercepted). The core-foundation of the company is very good.

    Cons

High-School like behaviors amongst supervisors/managers and above (some). Bullying - type of environment, gossipy, sabotage and misery is infectious and evident throughout some departments.

I worked at Cablevision Systems full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

If you can withstand the tremendous pressure they put on you, you can make a good amount of money to be made. great benefits and perks. Free cable, internet and phone, including all premium channels is great. They reward top performers.

    Cons

Very Micro-Managed. Everything you do is watched like big brother over your shoulders, with constant pressure to do better. I have seen people go to the hospital for the amount of pressure they put on you in sales position. but if you can withstand the pressure and move up to management position, you can have a great career.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Become more employee friendly. stop the micro-management and the tremendous amount of pressure you put on people. A friendly work environment will produce much better results and employees who last longer and not burnout in 6 months.

    Pros

Benefits, Great Product, Potential to move to different departments for cross experience

    Cons

Too much change, lack of clarity in direction, instilling fear, every other day another employee gets let go.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Morale and name is going to continue to decrease if you continue to have no clear direction. Your employees need to trust you to follow you.
