Driver (Former Employee) Waterville, ME (US)

Prosyou will get a check and all kinds of hours

Consafter ten years of working there i need time of for medical reason and went out on a FMLA. after my 12 weeks i need a couple more weeks of physical thearpy and was layed off and told to come back and reapply and i would have to start at a starting wage and benefits, they constantly push drivers to skip lunch breaks to keep the numbers looking good. and they also push you to do unsafe or even illegal things to make the customer happy no matter what and then if something happens its the drivers fault.

Advice to Senior Managementtry to work more than 25 or 3o hours a week while making the drivers work 60. Try listening to employees and maybe buy some new equipment instead of 45000 pickups for the managment to haul there campers and boats around with. they need to cut there top managment and low managment by a third

A good place to gain experience

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThere is plenty of room to move around in the company, and try out different positions. The working environment is laid back, and friendly. They put trust in their employees to get their jobs done.

ConsHigh employee and management turnover. No yearly raises. No raises for taking on a more challenging, or different position.

Advice to Senior ManagementLook into the jobs that people do, see if they have special skills, and can do things that the company usually hires out to contractors. Reward these employees with higher compensation than new hires.

    Dissatisfied employees, extremely poor management

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Rutland, VT (US)

ProsYou will receive a paycheck. There are some exceptional people working here, however they are the hourly employees.

ConsCasella pays its employees the bare minimum despite having extremely dedicated, hard working intelligent individuals working for them. The company allows management to make decisions concerning terminating an employee based on whether the manager 'likes' an individual not on the persons job performance. Casella has gone through an excessive amount of management changes which has caused confusion for employees because new management changes everything, even what worked. Employees don't know who they should report to.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployees are often asked for what they need or what their thoughts are but it doesn't appear anyone ever actually listens. Dedicated, productive, and valuable employees are over looked and / or fired because they don't fit in some sort of 'mold'. Employees sacrifice personal time and work off the clock just to get the job done, maybe you should ask why.

    Arrogant

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsDedicated employees, good benefits, and a passionate CEO.

ConsTop down management, employees feel they have no voice with minimal if any reward for their hard work and efforts, and leaders who are chosen because of who they know, not because they are the best fit.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake some of the leadership advice you feed to your people. Put more effort in the selection process of your leaders so your hard working hourly employees can feel that pride they once had.

    Dysfunctional

    Manager (Former Employee)

ProsGood people at the hourly and lower mgmt levels.

ConsThe company is broke. People are tired and demoralized. No faith in Sr. Mgmt. Trying too hard to be like the "big boys". Local, hometown feel has been destroyed by current mgmt. Noone listens to the type of equipment you need. Lots of money spent on putting lipstick on pigs, none spent on their people.

Advice to Senior Managementsell to Waste Connections immediately.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
