Former Employee – worked at Claire's Stores full-time for more than a year
Pros – Pay was within the average range for managers and associates. There is a great employee discount on merchandise. Corporate communication sufficient.
Cons – To many policy inconsistencies/reinforcements. Insufficient training for managers. District managers not employee motivated.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more mindful that employees are your business. The better they are trained and paid the better service they will give and the better the company will do as a whole.

Current Employee – been working at Claire's Stores full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Fun and exciting.
Love the staff and the customers (only at my location - Claire's is a big target for trashy and ghetto girls to steal from and I hate them).
Paid vacations and personal days plus one religious holiday a year and sick time.
401k
Good health benefits.
Cons – No overtime.
Only one raise in nearly 4 years that was not a result of a promotion.
Company does not trust the people running their stores.
Quick to fire upper management but not problem associates.
Spend more money on signs that are never used and merchandise that never sells than on salaries or adequate payroll.
Work most shifts without a lunch break because payroll doesn't allow for double coverage most days.
Advice to Senior Management – Trust the people you put in charge.
Take care of your people and they will take care of your company.
Regionals and DMs aren't running your stores and you pay them the big bucks. The people actually working the floor and doing the customer service get paid peanuts.
Do more inside promotion instead of hiring outside the company.
Stop printing so many wasted signs.
Stop sending 30 of the same product just because 1 person bought multiples of the same thing doesn't mean it is going to sell like that again. We just end up sitting on the product until it goes to clearance.

Current Employee – been working at Claire's Stores full-time for less than a year
Pros – Everyone is treated with respect, regardless of title. Can easily work around my personal schedule and military obligations. Was trained very well for my job and drama in the workplace is not acceptable.
Cons – Being the only person working when the store is packed and there's a line out of the door for piercings. Very hard to deter shoplifting. Out of date company regulation books and training videos.
Advice to Senior Management – LISTEN TO YOUR EMPLOYEES OPINIONS.

Current Employee – been working at Claire's Stores part-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Gives vacation time to lower level management
Piercing ears is usually a rewarding experience
Cons – Upper management does not always understand how stores actually function
High expectations that cannot always be met
Odd hours
Advice to Senior Management – Make sure that managers are not promoted before they are ready, because it makes the store worse. While associates can drive sales, they cannot make customers spend more than they want to spend, and it is unreasonable to think that we can pressure people into spending that extra money. Reward employees that put in the extra effort instead of ignoring their sacrifices.
