Former Employee – worked at Clear Channel part-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Free Food, drinks, tickets to concerts and events. There really isn't that much to say, it really is that bad.
Cons – Too many managers that never show up to work. Lack of communication and consistency. Managers are more worried about their own job and bottom line to care about a human life. Working the jobs of 3 people for half of one person's salary. Every CC station is a sinking ship. Get off now. Even if you are friendly with your boss and management, you will still get fired. The benefits are terrible.
Advice to Senior Management – You're too late on I heart radio. Hire more women in management positions.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at Clear Channel full-time for more than a year
Pros – Clear Channel let's you exceed where your skills will allow you to do best. They are also competitive in pay compared to other industry companies. Managers are constantly bringing new materials and market info to you in order for you to maintain a competitive edge
Cons – HSA healthcare is not the greatest healthcare out there. Sometimes you feel like you are being micromanaged (to some that is a plus).

Current Employee – been working at Clear Channel full-time
Pros – Excellent market research, data, and resources
Cons – Lack of consistency among management. Horrible compensation. Extremely corporate. Managers are the least experienced I've encountered. Focus is completely on "inputs" rather than output. Short-term strategy and vision. No long-term outlook nor willingness to create strategic business alliances for long-run gain.
Advice to Senior Management – Empower your AE's to think more independently. Foster an environment that allows differing approaches, ideas, strategies, and solutions. Look for competitive advantage, increase workplace morale, limit the paperwork and mandatory meetings. Stop compensating AE's like independent reps because the corporate expectations demand increased compensation.

Current Employee – been working at Clear Channel full-time for more than a year
Pros – Radio talent very friendly and the company is very receptive for college interns looking to learn more about the radio industry
Cons – Unless someone gets fired, quits, or dies, do not expect any upward movement with this company. Also expect to do three jobs for the price of one. You will not get rich working for this company. If you have a dream of being a radio DJ, stop, because everything is syndicated and live radio is dead.
Advice to Senior Management – Pay employees based on the work you expect from them and don't treat them like workhorses.

Current Employee – been working at Clear Channel part-time
Pros – Love working in the radio business. I have been doing it for a very long time and now I do it for fun and not money. This make it a lot easier to deal with low pay. I love the opportunity to be creative and entertain people. Well, maybe I am entertaining myself but, either way, It is fun.
Cons – pay could be a bit better. I don't expect it to get any better so I just go about my business.
Advice to Senior Management – I would love to say pay more to your talent but I don't expect it and understand that radio people are always taken advantage of. No big deal...used to it!! I

Former Employee – worked at Clear Channel full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – perks that come with working in the entertainment industry
Discount or free event attendance
flexible hours
reasonable insurance
Cons – Low end salaries
Raises non existant
Sales commissions are always being altered to benefit company, not account executives
moral
work/family balance
Advice to Senior Management – Pretending to care is not fooling anyone with that stupid survey. Nobody believes for a minute it was confidential. The people running this organization have no clue how the regular person lives, so the decisions that are being made are harmful to employees. A few rotten apples are ruining thousands of careers without batting an eye.

Former Employee – worked at Clear Channel part-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Being an intern gives you the opportunity to learn about the industry and work in a fun place for college credit.
Cons – The company is literally bleeding itself dry. It keeps cutting back on employees and dispersing the work to whoever is left. If you get hired, you'll start at minimum wage and most likely never get a raise. I'd say the average full time salary pay is around $30k. Don't expect much more than that, unless you are at the top. About 80 percent of radio stations are voice tracked or syndicated. Don't expect to be a radio personality. The rate of job openings is declining and so is the pay. At least 30 people have either left or been let go in the past year, ranging from the lowest level jobs all the way up to the market manager position.
Advice to Senior Management – You can function with a smaller staff, but pay your employees a decent salary to do the honest days work they are performing.

Current Employee – been working at Clear Channel full-time for less than a year
Pros – Radio can have a fun atmosphere, Good to try out for knowledge of the industry.
Cons – Skimpy insurance with high cost. NO TRAINING ! Extreme micromanagement. Constantly shifting focus and never ending pay changes. Bain capital owns them and has stripped a once great company to the bone in the name of profits. The employees are not valued and they look for every possible way to cut cost , pay , and labor. Everybody is over worked and underpaid.
