No raises. Cost cutting is hurting the products. Talented people are leaving the company and the industry

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Unparalleled resources and state-of-the-art technology go hand in hand with being the largest company in the category. Quality properties and instant recognition in the marketplace.

    Cons

A total numbers-driven management philosophy. If it can't be measured mathematically, put into a metric, and printed out on a spreadsheet it doesn't exist or has no value. People are as interchangeable as office furniture for that reason.

I have been working at Clear Channel full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great place to learn quickly and learn valuable skills. The people are some of the best and smartest I've ever worked with. There is ample training and investment in equipment. The IT projects are challenging and impactful.

    Cons

There are revenue challenges preventing the company from showing employees that they are valued. There haven't been bonuses or raises in a number of years. There seems to be a lot of turnover in leadership which causes ripple effects and some lurching around between priorities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Place more emphasis on taking care of existing employees. There is a lot of perception that new employees can get exorbitant salaries while loyal employees are restrained from getting advances beyond a small percentage increase. Spread it around some. Many employees would love to feel like they are a part of the same culture you cats in Manhattan enjoy. The sizzle reals are nice, but when you trip on the carpet walking back to your cube it's hard to get stoked about how glamorous your company is.

    Pros

There are great opportunities working to work in various departments everyone is extremely helpful and willing to give guidance.

    Cons

Working for a smaller clear channel often times they hire people who aren't qualified for the position creating tension for long term employees.

I worked at Clear Channel full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Concert tickets
Nice co-workers (for the most part)
    Digital capabilities
Good blend of inside and outside sales experience

    Cons

Low pay - unless you are a 10 year veteran with a solid account list. Benefits are pretty brutal too.
Poor, Slow, Outdated technology - enjoy working on a computer and phone from 1992
Horrible Management - Micromanage you with meetings, yet provide no real training, help, or assistance with prospecting or helping to close proposals. They are only worried about the 10 year veterans, and let the first year rookies "figure it out"
No continuity - Sales, Traffic, Production, Accounting departments are all doing their own thing. No continuity between departments. As the AE you literally have to deal with every step in the process - which can be tedious and frustrating.
High Turnover - Don't bother making too many friends within the office - because a majority of them won't be there in the next 6 months. Close to 15 people left in my year there. And don't expect to get fed any good accounts unless you are a suck up.
Unethical - All i will say is to make sure you get everything in writing. Don't take any verbal agreements.
Poor Outlook - A majority of the big spenders in the market are already working with CC - so you are out there fighting over the small mom and pop companies with little to no budgets. The big spenders that aren't working with CC usually want nothing to do with them. Perception is that "Radio doesn't work." Have fun, and good luck prospecting saying your calling from CC. No transparency on who is calling on or perusing a particular account - there could be as many as 5 people calling on 1 account at a particular time. No CRM tools to manage your prospects - so brush up on your Microsoft Excel skills. All sales people are calling off the same prospecting lists (x-ray, MM). TV, Radio, Print, Digital all fighting over the same $ too. No written contracts, so when your client is unhappy after 3 months of not seeing any results they typically pull their money with you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide help or assistance for AE's. Update your horrible technology to see an increase in productivity. Managers should be required to take an ethics course.

    Pros

Definitely enjoyed working here, was able to work promotions with some great people. Solid bosses that help out and enough autonomy to find your own groove.

    Cons

A lit bit low pay for promotion and marketing. The job was part-time, so it would have been great to be able to advance to full time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

allow for movement between different fields within the company.
