    Gaining Call Center Experience!

    Pros

The pay is decent if you consider starting anywhere from $10- at least $14 per hour.

Training is Exceptional and will definitely give you an idea of whether or not you are capable of learning how to manipulate your way through the various Customer Service screens to answer Customer questions about pricing and their credit card billing etc. and of course set orders...which of course all depends on the Contract you will be assigned to work for such as Wall Street Journal; selling newspaper no outbound calls; among a few other Companies Convergys Contract with.

    Cons

Initial Interview requires an assessment test which includes a typing test, arithmetic test, vocabulary test, customer service evaluations (how would you respond to customers regarding the information they are requesting), and then 2 face to face interviews; and of course if you are unable to pass the assessments the first time you have I believe 6 months to retry passing the assessment tests.

    Pros

Good pay, benefits. 401K, Various shifts. Paid training and nesting. Plenty of parking. Promote from within. Constant quality monitoring with feedback. Concerned with clients satisfaction, Shows appreciation for employees.

    Cons

Some TL's need more training. Tend to promote high performers into management positions, sometime, without proper training to deal with people. Somewhat chaotic environment. mainly concerned with clients satisfaction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have TL and all staff that has contact with employees, take some CE classes to maintain their position. It appears that although they are top performers on the floor, it does not necessarily transfer to the employees under their supervision.

    Pros

Learning AT&T procedures for troubleshooting and customer service.. In 6 months, you can move into another position. Health and dental are available before 90 days, and you can see what your check will look like on Wednesday (Payday is Friday).

    Cons

Weeks of training, and switching from a.m. to afternoon times in training. About halfway in (5 weeks), the morning schedule will change from 7a.m. to 3 p.m. -11:30. The evening class will have your morning shift.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep one set schedule and create an increase in pay.

    Pros

Super easy working with HR. The supervisors were pretty laid back. There are a few projects/shifts available that end up with some downtime between calls. Much batter than most call centers.

    Cons

Like any call center, you have to be prepared to put up with a lot of monotony. There's not a whole lot of company culture, it's just pretty cut-and-dry "do your work, go home".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more opportunities for your phone agents to have *some* sort of progress (team leaders, take escalated calls, etc.).

    Pros

the pay and benefits and the experience

    Cons

When i first got hired training was not related to the what i actually need to do on the floor/ phones itself. This company is not loyal to there employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Training should me more related to what is done on the floor/phones after training is over. More motivation also need from peers and more internal jobs open for current employees.

    Lots of employee-related events
    Decent benefits package

    Cons

    Lower than industry-average compensation.
Very limited career advancement opportunities, mainly due to blatant favoritism.
Time-off policies violated on a regular basis
