I worked at Dart Container full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great acquaintances. Nice benefits. They care about your health, have walking paths, annual health fairs, flu shots, etc... I would return to Dart in a heartbeat if they would keep the old Dart culture alive.

    Cons

Much of the new generation just doesnt see ir understand the Dart culture. This generation will bring the company down a few steps before the elder generation realizes what is happening.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the Dart culture strong, do not let the growth change the company too much. Dart has always been a great place to work. I have many friends still working there that I care a great deal about.

    Pros

Good variety of tasks so I was able to get a good feel for the business as an intern

    Cons

Some of the staff was unfriendly and closed-minded to new ideas. Often difficult to work with as a new employee

I worked at Dart Container full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay is ok and promotions are available for those willing to wait on their supervisors' hands and feet as they sleep in their comfy office.

    Cons

    Tolerated Racism.
    No teamwork.
When all else fails blame or fire QC "responsible" for defective product.
Seen many instances where the company has fired employees weeks before retirement.
    Shady history and no management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change the safety motto "nothing we do is worth getting hurt". Very few supervisors seem to agree.

I worked at Dart Container full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I love the fact that they actually care about their employees and their personal growth..

    Cons

None, I really have no cons to list. They did an excellent job of providing good compensation and had excellent company values.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing!

Unfortunate Experience, Did not live up to Professionalism or Guidelines

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Dart Container full-time

    Pros

Not all departments, facilities, or personnel had issues: support, efforts to do the best and a positive job, intelligence/experience, and ethics do exist. Not always easy to find.
Some introduction and programs were introduced for updating issues, but no accountability when not applied or learned.

    Cons

In Engineering Department - Lack of Integrity and Honesty, and Bullying, and Abuse was enabled rather than corrected.
Old model, outdated management style exists that does not take into account or is respectful of employee value, the value of communications, or of working together. Greater emphasis on putting up obstacles and excuses than on successful outcomes.
Many examples where the listed procedures or guidelines or training were not followed.
    Missing long term planning.
Not sure if the Dart family is aware of the problems.

I have been working at Dart Container full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

None, absolutely none. It's a job until something better (like appendicitus) comes along.

    Cons

Poor, poor management. Lowest wages in the area. Not even close to what other manufacturing plants are paying. Favoritism. Biased. "Do as I say, not as i do" attitude. Senior management "forgets" to do what little jobs they have, but if PRODUCTION forgets something because they are short staffed, they receive write ups. All other departments get extra help, but production, who MAKES the products to sell, never has enough people. Constantly running out of materials. Not everyone gets trained, only time the focus is on training is when an audit is coming up, but even then senior management waits until the last minute then has a list a mile long for production folks to get done by the next week. Poor maintenance personnel. "Machine's broke down? Aw, we'll look at it tomorrow"! So then we don't make our schedule adherences & don't get our HUGE bonus. But from what we've heard from some of the other plants, the HUGE bonus is a slap in the face as well. Really though Dart would change Solo Cup around and make it a good place to work again.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go buy some brooms , mops, swiffers, what ever you can & clean out the "houses" of the senior mamagement staff!!

Great place to work. A little difficult to move up once you hit mid-level. If you get in at the bottom you can work you way up to mid-level easily.

    Pros

Good benefits. Great people. Routine work week, you can count on 40 hours.

    Cons

Pay is below average, but getting better.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Its better to retain employees (and cheaper) than to bring in and train new people.
