Sydney

Former Employee – worked at Dell full-time for more than 7 years

ProsVery structured process and procedures which supported the sales floor.
Management were generally very approachable
Opportunities within the organisation to cross into other roles

ConsVery very metrics focussed with daily KPI's on sales numbers and talk time.
Too focussed on the weekly number and commitments up the chain to management vs building long term customer relationships.
Eventually too many hoops and lines of business gates to jump through to reach target
Target increases were double and triple digit figures quarter on quarter

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn how to retain your talent
Opex is way too low and hardware reps are being made to pay for a services business that is not performing.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Sydney

Current Employee – been working at Dell full-time for more than 10 years

ProsDell's segmented supply chain model all the way from order management to how products are delivered is still industry leading.

ConsWe need to be more confident with our products and invest more in marketing. The streak model is a good example of how we were well ahead of the market but dropped it mid-way but companies like Samsung manage to completely capitalize on that form factor.

Advice to Senior ManagementLets bring back Brand Dell - We cannot afford to lose this. We still have everything it takes.

Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)

Former Employee – worked at Dell full-time

Pros- Dell is investing a lot in training technical support staff for enterprise products.
- Many opportunities for promotion: moving up to management positions can go fairly quickly if you perform well.
- Dynamic, project- based working environment. More like a beehive, where movement across verticals is promoted.
- Less administrative boundaries and burdens than most companies.
- Nice and professional people to work with.
- Clear mission

Cons- Strong friend & family culture in Dell Cherrywood ( check who's affiliated to whom).

Advice to Senior ManagementMore support and attention for employees when dealing with pressure from work, that human aspect is a bit missing.
