New York, NY (US)

Current Employee – been working at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than 3 years

ProsWork/life balance, face time is not big here
2-week mandatory time off for equity research folks is awesome
Good stability...layoff and mass cuts in the US less likely despite European troubles
Very good global network/resources
Mgmt is trying to bring more structure and resources

ConsPay is good when you first get here, but average to below average
Needs to do a better job of incentivizing employees
Needs more team events
No real sense of culture, siloed work environment
No good sense of what is going on in the business globally...lack of cohesion
Too many internal systems and they are old

Advice to Senior ManagementNeeds to do a better job of incentivizing employees

Former Employee – worked at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than a year

ProsIts a big brand name and pays decent compensation. Better for those who want to work less and network more.

ConsDifficult to achieve self-respect there. Till the time results are satisfactory, nobody bothers to look at right or wrong.

Advice to Senior ManagementVision of a great upper management has got blurred at the hands of local authorities

New York, NY (US)

Current Employee – been working at Deutsche Bank full-time for more than 10 years

ProsCulture great, encourages opportunities and mobility. Smart smart people.

ConsIt mgmt is inconsistent. Belief if trial and error approach to development leads to poor results and poor roi. Emphasis on developers over project managers and the like. If you are a developer they are moving to a low cost center model, where the hubs like new York city and London are not or rarely hiring developers as they are moving to places like north Carolina and Moscow.

– I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Deutsche Bank full-time

ProsIt's a major bank and therefore a good name on your resume. You are left alone to do your work - contact with managers and team members is minimal, it's entirely possible to go the whole day without speaking to anyone.

ConsIf the manager doesn't like you then you will go nowhere. The bonus pool is split between a few of the managers favorites, and has nothing to do with rewards for good work.

Promotion never happens - they always hire new people in from outside, so the only way to move up is to move on.

managers shout at employees. It's pretty much the opposite of a friendly fun place to work.
