I have been working at Abercrombie & Fitch full-time (more than a year)

Pros

Awesome campus
Amazing cafeteria
People are typically young, outgoing and have interesting backstories
You get to wear A&F, Hollister and Gilly Hicks to work everyday. This means shorts when it's warm!
Lots of campus events and after hours get-togethers

Cons

Long, hard hours (depending on your position, average is probably 53-ish hours a week)
High expectations of quality, sometimes impossibly high
If you don't fit the A&F mold, it is likely that you will feel like an outcast

Truthfully, the HR department here is scary. There really is no typical HR team that you would find at any other company of this magnitude (which is ridiculous, by the way), but instead, we have a a large recruiting team and they are looked at as HR. Recruiting for this company is frightening as it is - just read the other reviews - but the fact that this is the team that sets the standards for the company says a lot about expectations. If you are not impossibly outgoing, full of energy, ready to schmooze and party with your superiors, (and let's face it, being skinny seems to be a requirement), then you're going to have a hard time here. That is the truth of the matter.

I have been working at Abercrombie & Fitch full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Flexible Scheduling
    Likable Staff
    Great Discounts
    Good Dresscode
    Fun Management
    Cool Customers

    Cons

    Affirmative Action
    Low Wages
Uglier Hires since the Law Suit

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ever since the lawsuit I've noticed they've been hiring uglier people just to not be discriminatory which in my opinion drags down the status of the brand. When I first started working there the lawsuit hadn't happened and we were busier than ever and the entire staff was very attractive, but since than we've gone down in sales and people who aren't into the brand as a whole shouldn't work their in my opinion and all the "newer" employees have trouble meeting dresscode because they don't even own abercrombie, which in my opinion makes you unfit to work their if you can't even afford or like the brand.
