I have been working at Accenture full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

Decent pay for entry level
Decent benefits for entry level
Decent bonus stucture
Excellent learning potential

Cons

Compromised Work/Life balance
High stress project timelines
High employee turnover
Lack of motivated and qualified talent
Slow promotion ladder (unless you work a ton and kiss ass)
Weak salary increases year over year and inline with promotions
Poor career guidance
Dog eat dog atmosphere between on project resources

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of hiring to hit a certain number of resources, try hiring competent and talented resources. Level out the compensation scale across the United States (a first year analyst in Ohio makes about 35-40% less than an analyst in New York). Understand that the kiss ass mentality to get promoted and raises to be part of the "Good ole boy" network is sabotaging your firm.

Current Employee - Manager in Gurgaon, Haryana (India)

I have been working at Accenture full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    1. Global company. Global roles especially if you are in GTIN

    2. Travel policies are good (atleast so far). But there has been an attempt to make a GTIN specific travel policy now to reduce costs. So for e.g. there maybe a case where there would be two employees on a project in the US, one from India and one from say Spain and the Indian guy would be paid lesser in terms of benefits. Clearly showing who the second class citizen is.

3 There is an opportunity to work on a wide range of projects

    4. Accenture work environment is generally good and positive in most places across the globe except GTIN

    5. Good peer group

    6. Comp is good but make sure you understand differences .......GCMC vs SLOs and Industry groups vs Service lines

    Cons

Not Management Consulting :- Be clear that if you were here for doing business strategy and management consulting kind of work then you will be dissappointed. Most of the work is more of transformation type. Senior Management cares about chargeability and therefor anything can pass off as a project. Senior Management likes people to work on long term projects (12 months +) which gives them assured chargeability but are mostly always tranformation, change management, business analysts, process design etc type of roles

Leadership issues : - Senior leadership in some of the teams is pathetic. They are immature and not the kind you would expect in a consulting company. Leadership in some teams is uninspiring, dishonest, vindictive and non respectful. You are expected to be the yes man of senior managers if you would want things to happen for you

Low employee motivation:- Work and leadership issues have resulted in very low motivation amoung the employees. For a while HR has not publically revealed satisfaction scores even though thats very much a norm in other parts of Accenture (satisfaction scores are collected through massive global surveys). Ask the HR to share employee satisfaction survey result of the team you are joining. And ask yourself if the extra money you are getting worth the frustrating work environment you may be getting yourself into

Work culture not positive :-. Work culture in several parts of GTIN is very bad and are not in line with the global culture of Accenture. One needs to talk to friends and alumni they trust before joining a team. Work from home / flexibilty is frowned upon. Comments are passed on dressing sense, work timings, Gender insensitive etc

Growth:- GTIN is also a 1500 member organization and career growth is slow. Where it is common to see people in other regions becoming a senior manager from a manager in 3 years the wait in GTIN is very long. Similarly situation for consultants and Analysts.

Meritocracy is almost absent. Its about how much you would go to please your bosses

Work Life balance lacking. Senior leadership insensitive to work life balance

Limited travel and client work for managers and very less for Senior Managers in GTIN.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relook at leadership and seriously fire some of them
Listen to employee issues around lack of motivation and satisfaction and address them
