Weak management and a "meeting" culture

I worked at American Society for Clinical Pathology

Pros

Most of the people who work there are very nice and the environment is low-key.

Cons

People spend their days moving from meeting to meeting, talking about things that need to be done that never get done. The marketing department, in particular, was mismanaged, disorganized, and dysfunctional.

I worked at American Society for Clinical Pathology full-time

    Pros

Decent benefits, casual dress in the summmers. The office has a great location downtown.

    Cons

Management is out of touch and HR is borderline corrupt. Mid-level management drives out talent. No real room for growth or learning. Upper management has good intentions but seems incapable of addressing the problems with their mid-level managers.

I have been working at American Society for Clinical Pathology full-time

    Pros

They offer some decent benefits (health insurance, life insurance, etc), nice physical office space in good location, some very talented, smart, and motivated employees mixed in with the general staff.

    Cons

Very talented people tend to get discouraged and leave quickly because of the lack of support. HR and upper management appear to ignore complaints and punish those who speak out against mid-level managers.
