I have been working at CNA

Pros

The pay is satisfying. There is little travel. It is located in Chicago downtown and really fancy. It is a place that you can really challenge yourself.

Cons

I think some models are not so sound. There is scope for improvement. The supervisor should be more open to suggestions.

    Pros

    Decent benefits
    Professional staff and managers

    Cons

    Slightly below average salaries
Difficult or impossible to get promoted
IT is outsouced to 3 different companies that leads to confusion and lack of consistency

    Advice to Management

Stop going outside to hire your friends when there are qualified individuals already working for the company

    Pros

Competitive salaries. Understands the business of insurance.

    Cons

Very conservative company and one that has gone through many business models. Challenging to work within fairly closed network of similarly minded senior and next level managers. Gap in the stated desired culture from what actually is rewarded. Not a place for work-life balance -- seems to be more comfortable with 1950's type of environment.

    Advice to Management

Lighten up. Listen more. Take a fresh look at how policies are impacting the workforce.
