I have been working at Cisco Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent culture of freedom and empowerment, great people, great work. One man being at the helm has obviously helped largely retain focus on the company's goals. As an employer, Cisco provides so many opportunities to learn and challenge oneself! Truly satisfying if you are looking for stability and growth too .

    Cons

Not the best paymaster. Cisco has grown in size and a result slowed down over the years and there's more "governance" now than before, some of it which seems like red tape

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not compromise on hiring standards and bring in inadequately skilled people

    Pros

    - Interesting and challenging work
    - They treat their people with respect
    - They are constantly trying to improve how they do business

    Cons

    - Constant reorganization - On the plus side though they do this to best align their resources with market needs, so other than the angst it creates for the people affected, this is not such a bad thing. They invest in areas that appear to have the best growth/margin opportunities, while cutting back in slower growth or lower margin business areas. The reorgs are not not company wide, and are focused in specific areas of the business, which varies with time, so this should not be misconstrued as poor management. It's exactly the opposite. I believe we have excellent senior management. They are constantly evaluating how to change and adapt, which allows the company to stay relevant with customers, and to grow their overall business. Ultimately, that is good for both the company and employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest some more in the US, otherwise keep doing what you're doing.
