I have been working at Fairfax County Virginia full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

some fleixibility with scheduling, though often work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays

    Cons

no decent, if ANY (several years of NONE) pay raises in 5 years, and current county exec planning to cap future, again if ANY, at 2% (inflation averages 3% at elast). Supervisors are gerneally often lazy and do VERY little to create supportive and positive work environment. Decrepit buildings for some facilities ignored with mold and dust, while the exec is worried about his new-ish comfy building deteriorating. Very little opportunity to move up or around the organization at all. Very little opportunites in certain departments for continuing education. Longer and longer hours, nights and weekends, with little hope of getting a regular schedule back in some departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

if you can't give raises, don't make the work schedules worse and worse as well. do your job without dumping and be willing to participate

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
