Good engineers trying to work with poor management (Energy Group)

Staff Process Engineer (Former Employee)
Denver, CO (US)

I worked at Harris Group

ProsThe HGI energy group does a great job attracting good engineers and designers. I really enjoyed working with my peers during my time there.

ConsThe project management is completely out of touch with the real work being done. Further, the management structure is setup to make it impossible to get everyone working with the same tools and with consistent, quality review. Further, the scheduling of projects often creates unrealistic client expectations and/or artificial work crunches.

Please note this only applies to the Energy division where I worked. I have the impression other divisions are managed much better.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior discipline engineers who review everything going out the door are desperately needed.

A consistent, quality project management program needs to be put in place where engineering has input starting at the proposal stage.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
