Pros

Great talent, great people to work with. Depending on the team and the technology, it can be a fun place to work.

Cons

Too much middle management, to big of a company, unable to react to the market, underpaid. Unable to decide what it wants to focus on. Annual reviews needs improvement and little to no guidance on how to position oneself for success. Little to no work life balance.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees, practice what you preach. Provide a real career path to your employees without it being in Management. There is too much of a buddy system, if you not part of it the path of success is limited. Evaluated purely based on numbers and not work ethic.

    Pros

    HP is a great place to learn IT foundations, trends and future. If there is some new tool or methodology, for sure you can have access to it, play and learn at HP. Strong leadership (tough most of the times) makes the team to come together and achieve great things. Overall culture is to deliver and goal oriented, which constantly gives you the satisfaction of achieving challenging assignments. Company offers many opportunities to move between different business units and learn different functional areas.

    Cons

    Grew a lot in the last 5-7 years through acquisitions, most of them didn't make a lot of sense. Strong cultural "tribes" persist from the original companies, restricting the growth in certain areas and preventing collaboration company-wide. Pay is lousy, like working for HP is enough reward. Terrible choices for the board, it is tough to remain focus when executives are often involved in scandals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Good DNA is still in the air. Go back to the basics: good salaries, take care of the people, offer great creative products and executives with strong ethical values.
