I worked at JoS. A. Bank

Pros

Honestly, the work load and the work itself was not bad. Pretty much something anyone with basic competence would be able to handle. The interview was extremely simple generally took about 5-10 minutes or so. Co-Workers are respectul.

Cons

It can get boring and redundant. You help people at times and don't get any commission due to your casual associate position.

Continue to do the great work you are doing.

Enjoyable and rewarding while it lasted, but was cut short due to bad decision made by higher-ups.

I worked at JoS. A. Bank

    Pros

Prestigious company with excellent quality merchandise and highly recognized brand. Good place to learn much about menswear and men's fashion.

    Cons

Pay is too low, especially for the amount of work that needs to be done. Management is too demanding of its people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your associates better and bring back the old manager of florence and your prestige can be restored in this store, as well as the country.

Treated like servants by some of the customer, and treated like lairs and thieves by upper management

I have been working at JoS. A. Bank

    Pros

Some of the customers are wonderful. They show their appreciation when you help them bring an outfit together. If your young and working your way into the corporate work force, Jos A Bank is a great starter job. You learn to match the right garments together. The right suit, shirt and tie to wear on an interview. If your lucky, one of the more seasoned salesmen will help you along the way.

    Cons

The amount of responsibilities that are expected for what your paid. Your given a sales goal that is way beyond any reasonable means even on a busy day. when sales are slow you have to make phone call. I was handed a pack of phone numbers and told I needed to make 350 calls that day because the store needed to have over 3000 by the end of the week.
Jos A Bank does not believe in recycling paper but they recycle their seasonal merchandise. Every year we get the same stuff back from the warehouse. some of it is so old it is dry rot, faded and stretched out. before it can even go on the sales floor some of the merchandise has to go the the MOS box. It is very embarrassing when a customer returns a "brand new" sweater because there is a big faded spot across the front.
Being threaded to be fired if you don't get Corp. accounts, corp cards, and traveler crease. If the customer says not, what else can we do.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't treat your associates like second rate citizens. They work very hard making little money for this company. Hire an analyst that can come up with a better pay / commission plan.
