I worked at Lincoln Financial Group as an intern for less than a year

Cons

-Work atmosphere can be loud and unprofessional at times
-Disagreements between employees occasionally divert attention from the task at hand
-Inconsistent level of communication between management and staff
-Interns in various business units (i.e. sales / accounting) do not have opportunities to interact
-No mentor program for interns

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure that interns are given a good impression of Lincoln and potentially establish a specific program to keep interns in-house and expose them to business units other than their own.

Former Employee - EQRM  in  Philadelphia, PA (US)
Former Employee - EQRM in Philadelphia, PA (US)

I worked at Lincoln Financial Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Exposure to financial modeling, actuarial modeling and equity risk hedging. Excellent center city Philadelphia location convenient for driving or mass transit. Good working environment and office camaraderie. Mostly young office with many hardworking goal oriented people. Support for career development including educational reimbursement or time off while studying for professional certs

    Cons

Can be a high pressure environment especially during periods of market volatility. Cultural fit is important and will work against you if you don't conform. Complicated financial models are stored in excel spreadsheets and emailed around with no concept of version control. Salaries are not competitive with financial services firms in NYC but are competitive for the Philly labor market.

A solid company with terrible politics.

Current Employee - Financial Analyst in Radnor, PA (US)

I have been working at Lincoln Financial Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The pay is fair, though arguably lower than competition. Teams can be friendly, pretty talented workers, and respectable work/life balance and benefits. Stable company, as well, but a bit too complacent.

    Cons

Extremely, extremely political. Expect to be shoved around by management and HR. You have to "fit" or you will not last. Double-standards across colleagues depending on if they like you or not, regardless of your work. Furthermore, technology is outdated, and the corporate office is far too corporate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees are genuinely not happy, you will hear horror stories and politics, but people know HR is out to get them. Take a second look at equitable treatment, and this is coming from a current employee.
