I have been working at MD Anderson Cancer Center

    Pros

M.D. Anderson provides an opportunity for an employee's personal and professional passions to connect in giving hope, respect, and life to individuals. Connection to the mission tops as the primary reasons people come here and stay here and the people that surround you are the most important thing. We have leaders, peers, and colleagues that truly care about each other and, for the most part, exhibit the core values of caring, integrity, and discovery. These elements are critical to giving us a great place to work.

    Cons

As a large, complex, state healthcare institution, the challenges of bureaucracy and the slow pace of change can frustrate people. There are still pockets of negative behavior and beliefs that need improvement, but time will make the difference.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on improving the culture and living the core values that have made M.D. Anderson successful over 70 years. We need greater emphasis on hiring and keeping not only the best and the brightest, but those that are humble, gracious, and respectful of others.
