I worked at MFS full-time for more than 8 years

Pros

Room to grow, belief in promoting from within, real benefits, when I first started my Health Insurance was fully paid by the company.

Cons

Outsourced my job in 2007. Otherwise would still be there

I worked at MFS full-time for less than a year

    Pros

big company, nice location and very reputable.

    Cons

terrible company culture where people spend more time trying to place blame than trying to solve a problem. If you do your job well but generally like to keep to yourself watch out! Your gonna be blamed for everything when a problem blows up.

I worked at MFS full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

MFS really believes in work-life balance.
The management really tries to do the right thing, but can be parochial and myopic about what that is.
Most of the senior management has never worked anyplace else. The positive of this is that they can be very loyal to their own. The negative of this is that they do not actually seek best practices.

MFS has grown quickly, partially because of its' competitors' missteps and partially because it itself has done the right things.

    Cons

still a classic boys' club. if you are a minority of any sort you will hit a glass ceiling

MFS is not introspective or curious about the outside world. Management believes that because they have been successful, therefore all their approaches must be right.

It is not really a global firm, despite the rhetoric. It's a local firm that has grown quickly, but the culture is still very much "boys from framingham made good".
