Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Sunnyvale, CA (US)

I worked at Maxim Integrated full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Family oriented, plenty of opportunities for lateral and upward advancement. Executive management is accessible and approachable... Happy to see they are attempting to modernize and refresh their reputation and brand

    Cons

Despite efforts to refresh their brand, the company is still very old school with limited flexibility. You work long hours and are expected to work/attend meetings while on vacation. Executives and upper management allow personal and internal politics to overshadow some very intelligent, and hard working employees of all levels.

Policies and procedures are set in such a way with too many players that it was nearly impossible to leave a meeting on time or execute / get approval on a project. Collaboration was the buzz, but individuals and departments failed continually to execute.

    I began to miss Jack's 13 Principles.

I worked at Maxim Integrated full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is a leader in its industry. There is a major transformation underway in setting a new strategic direction and in building a positive employee culture. the new San Jose office is an example of the positive changes. Compensation is good with competive salaries and great benefits.

    Cons

Units tend to be silo'd and at times requires extra effort to collaborate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to drive training and development programs. Experiment with new ways to unlock more product innovation.
