I worked at Northwestern Mutual full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

You will learn how to build your book of business. You will learn how to manage your time for maximum efficiency and productivity. You will choose who you want to do business with. You will learn how to communicate and gather important information from clients so you can provide custom tailored solutions to them.

Cons

You're expected to be at a morning meeting at 7:30 every day and review publicly what you've accomplished regarding your stated goals.
If your manager requires you to book 4 new appointments a day, you will call until you do so.
Like it or not, everyone's production numbers are posted system wide every month.

I have been working at Northwestern Mutual full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The sky is the limit if you are dedicated and work hard. I have never worked anywhere before that there wasn't any sort of cap on your earning and that your compensation is a direct reflection of how hard you work. I have been able to build my own "small business" and look forward to the next 30 years here!

    Cons

Not everyone ends up making it because they don't work smart enough.
