    Pros

The mission and team members are a huge plus. The organization does great work around the world and the individuals working there are talented.

    Cons

As a mid-level employee, clear professional development and growth opportunities are key. The leadership refuses to see how strong their younger talent is and cultivate them. Individuals who work there believe in their mission but can't see a future at the organization because no effort is placed on employee engagement or growth. When staff turnover occurs, positions are only back filled if its a senior level staffer causing employees to be overworked. It also causes high stress environment. If you are looking for a salary increase or promotion, expect the paperwork and approval to take months - it will be a battle.

    Politics and Gossipy

I worked at Opportunity International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The work is important and really makes a difference for the poor. It is something donors can get excited about. There can be great opportunities to develop as well.

    Cons

There is no consistent management. If something is not urgent, no one pays attention to it until it becomes urgent. There is too much office politics and gossip. And the board seems to be unhappy with every president it chooses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Manage and lead.
