Former Employee - Senior Tax Consultant  in  Warsaw (Poland)
Former Employee - Senior Tax Consultant in Warsaw (Poland)

I worked at PwC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - you're likely to get to learn from some of the best and brightest people
    - you learn good standards of delivery (report writing etc.)
    - you get access to projects for the largest clients in the country
    - realistic chances of an overseas secondment (not for everyone, obviously)
    - decent work-life balance for a Big 4 company - much better than E&Y in any case

    Cons

    - very 'corporate' environment - lots of politics and it gets worse as you climb the ladder
    - Warsaw and CEE leadership fails to explain its decisions - 'official' version of why something is done is usually absurd - and these things affect you
    - Warsaw office is substandard - plumbing problems (yes!); flawed distribution of temperature can be annoying and leads to conflicts in the open space
    - hiring and firing / promotions are often difficult to understand (not in my case though)
    - firm has huge overheads, which makes it expensive - this may affect your motivation ("why am I selling this for this much")
    - adminsitrative personnel (HR, risk management) have way too much power
    - Global and regional leadership are micromanaging offices

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your staff like adults. Don't say things nobody will believe. Be straight with people.

Current Employee - Manager  in  Chicago, IL (US)
Current Employee - Manager in Chicago, IL (US)

I have been working at PwC full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

PwC offers great opportunities for international rotations. The culture is based on empowerment and allows junior team members to assume client facing roles with great responsibility early on in their career. The mix of assurance, tax and advisory function and a global industry network is very efficient to acquire skills during a career.

    Cons

Partnership based corporate structure results in unqualified and occasiinally unmotivated people sticking around for too long.

    Recommends
    Positive Outlook
    Approves of CEO
