I have been working at Sabre full-time for more than a year

Pros

Good benefits.
You can work from home in most departments.
Fun employee activities.
Nice Cafeteria.
Great headquarters facility.
Charity work.
Starbucks onsite.
Casual dress code.

Cons

Flex space. If you don't get there early, you might not have a place to work. Very few individuals have assigned cubicles.
Parking. If you don't arrive by 9am, you might have to park on the street.
Middle management sucks. There are a lot of supervisors/middle management who have made their way into a management role just by working there forever and finally being promoted. Many aren't qualified and have terrible people skills. It feels like high school all over again.
Location. Southlake is a long commute. There isn't affordable housing nearby and the traffic in Southlake can be unbearable.

    I have been working at Sabre full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    They might let you work from home sometimes
    Lot's of events if you are in Southlake.

    Cons

    Really not the best place for technically minded people. The business side likes to use lot of buzzwords and have a general overview that developers are a commodity. There is also a lot technical people in charge from when Mainframes ruled the earth.

    This results in lots of offshoring and badly designed systems. If you really like working on systems like it still the late 80's then you will love this place.

    It actually quite shocking how little people in key positions know. One positive thing is missing release dates are the norm so you really don't have to work very hard.

    Sabre actually works like a bunch of very small businesses this results in lots of duplication and products looking like they came from two different companies.

    Also sometimes who you report too just simply do not make sense like US developers having offshore developers as managers.

    Requirements from marketing are a joke and change on a daily basis.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Hire an outside firm to go in and cut the dead weight and leave nothing sacred. Also remember you get what you pay you best developers are leaving faster then you can hire them.

    Pros

    Great benefits and pay. Some new technology opportunities, but guarded.

    Cons

    They outsource IT management to places like Poland, so you may report to someone overseas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be much more progressive and open-minded with respect to technologies. Not every initiative needs to be governed by big IT processes.
