I have been working at Suncor full-time

Pros

- No big ego's or intimidation
- The company treats people well without going overboard at the expense of productivity like some places in town
- Having a gym in the building is amazing

Cons

"Safety moments"/HR/bureaucracy can be tedious if you're more of the renegade type; that comes with the territory of big oil though and it's the same everywhere. The outsourced IT is a bit of a joke as well.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the IT situation figured out... Losing an afternoon to an IT issue is frustrating. Otherwise great work.

I have been working at Suncor full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great benefits. Up to 17 personal days off in addition to normal vacation and holidays. Like any large company, opportunities for advancement do exist if you know the right people internally.

    Cons

Work culture is highly dependent on location. Increased political atmosphere post merger with Petro Canada in 2009. Compensation generally lags competition(Shell / imperial oil)
