I have been working at Suncor full-time

Pros

- No big ego's or intimidation
- The company treats people well without going overboard at the expense of productivity like some places in town
- Having a gym in the building is amazing

Cons

"Safety moments"/HR/bureaucracy can be tedious if you're more of the renegade type; that comes with the territory of big oil though and it's the same everywhere. The outsourced IT is a bit of a joke as well.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the IT situation figured out... Losing an afternoon to an IT issue is frustrating. Otherwise great work.

I have been working at Suncor full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good place to learn & implement. Major Oil Sands Company, excellance in process and personal safety management. Opurtunities for Co-op, EIT & Proffessionals

    Cons

Way of handling projects are costly in implementing, lengthy procedures, many more to handle. Need to update standards and specifications to present market

I worked at Suncor as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Excellent work/life balance, people are very friendly and not very stressful.

    Cons

Not challenging, people aren't that intelligent (work gets passed around a lot, eventually getting done by consultants), morally difficult to work for as an oil sands company, very difficult to do anything which is innovative, too much bureaucracy impeding work flow.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Create a more challenging work environment, remove bureaucratic resistance to workflow, make people's positions impact-full.
