I worked at Vitamin World part-time for more than a year

Pros

Discounts on supplements. Fairly simple and easy job after you learn about all the supplements. Good pay.

Cons

Management can micro-manage and they try to make a big deal out of small incidents. Your "success" really depends on the location of the retail store. Places in NY, FL, NV, and CA are going to see much more business than in a smaller area, therefore, your pay will be affected.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get more products in so VW can compete with other supplement shops

I worked at Vitamin World full-time

    Pros

Schedule can be made to fit almost any lifestyle due to flexibility in properly managed store. Overall benefits package is competitive with similar retail positions. Helping people see health benefits is enjoyable. Meeting a thousand customers a month and talking with them is very sociable.

    Cons

One of the only jobs/careers where a person can lose 30-50% of their salary solely based on coworkers lack of over performance and the shear greed of the corporation. The entire business model favors under performance up until the day you get axed. It is a catch 22 due to the fact that you have to choose between doing less to make bonus and fear termination or doing more and getting paid less. In a nutshell, you cannot control your annual income by being better at your job you will be handicapped the more successful you try to become.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to stop trying to appease the "next rung on the ladder" and instead choose to do what is morally right. Obviously if that means replacing the top rung and making an honest effort to become a better company from one person on, than that's what should be done. Also, if you do not change your habits quickly you will be left with nothing more than your least productive employees who reap the benefits of your backwards system and you will continue to lose market share.
