Pros

Varied opportunities coupled with project work and change management. Always something going on, but you need to be flexible and prepared to seize opportunities as, when and where they occur.

Cons

A bit disjointed and some IT issues. Silo mentality. Fire fighting on occasions and obsession with how results will be received in city - some short term knee jerk actions as a result.

Get off your backsides and visit some sites - get a feel for the business. Stop reading about how to do it - do it! And take a long term view sometimes.

I have been working at Wincanton full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Its a pretty decent place to work, it has some great managers, and the working hours can be a blessing. The company does have a free gym though, and we get paid our work breaks with a canteen on site. It has some very good values, especially when it comes to charity. They hold numerous open day and events which can be fun.

    Cons

Some of the managers can be difficult to work with and getting up at 4am to start work can be tough. The promote from within culture that they boast about is almost a lie, they don't really look for employee potential, just what is written on a yearly review.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Perhaps try promoting from within, see the true potential of the employees, rather than what is written on a 12 monthly review.
