Great Place To Kick Off Your Career

Assistant Manager (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA (US)

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

ProsEveryone is a recent college graduate so your coworkers are fun to be around and intelligent. Enterprise offers a great learning experience. You learn how to run a small business. Being successful at Enterprise looks great on your resume, and shows that you have good sales experience.

ConsCustomers can be degrading, and the company is so focused on a high customer service rating that they sometimes sacrifice the employee in the process.

You will move to several different branches per year. It's great because you'll meet more employees, but bad because of traffic in LA.

Good place to start

Management Trainee (Former Employee)
Long Beach, CA (US)

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

ProsGood training process that allows freedom for you to make your own decisions. Everyone is promoted from within and everyone starts as a management trainee. At Enterprise you get the opportunity to build your skills in sales.

ConsHigh turnover and must be okay with constantly changing offices.

Overly hyped position

Management Trainee (Former Employee)
Fullerton, CA (US)

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat experience in sales. You get to format your sales pitch according to each situation and management is willing to help you realize what you could have done differently when rejected. Great people and great benefits, just didn't personally enjoy selling just to sell. Would prefer a company who's brand is easier to stand behind.

ConsNo work-life balance as they say. You work very long hours and have hardly any time to take care of personal matters. If you are not looking to stay in sales long term, this is not the job for you. Even after you've completed your management training program, your next step still includes sales. And after that, sales. It is very hard to move into corporate positions even though they make it seem like it is simple. Very under paid!

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your employees more! There is no commission, yet you have high expectations of sales and long hours. Very hard to stay motivated when you could easily make more working half the hours waiting tables.

Management feels a sense of entitlement and employees are under paid.

Senior Account Manager; Rideshare Division (Former Employee)
Carson, CA (US)

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGood job right out of college. Meet lots of people and made good drinking buddies. Better social perks rather than career. Branch atmosphere is not professional - everyone comes to work hungover.

ConsUpper management feels a sense of entitlement, especially the Rideshare division out of Carson, CA. Additionally, workers are under paid and taken advantage of. Many previous employees speak of "golden handcuffs" or the "dangled carrot". Promises of advancement, never any action.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen multiple employees come to you with a concern about management, try and get to the bottom of the problem rather than ignoring employee feedback. Also, when an entire division has to replace 80% of its employees, take action.

Overworked. False Promises. No life. Teaches you how to be a liar

Management Trainee (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA (US)

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

Prosother companies you apply for appreciate that you were able to get through the Eprise Hazing, so they think you are tough enough to work anywhere.

Conscant go to the bathroom when you want. customers are rude. long hours with minimal breaks to breathe

This company treated me very well

Management Trainee Intern (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA (US)

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car as an intern for less than a year

ProsVery formal training program
Booked a hotel room for all interns right next to training center
Opportunity to move up very fast in the company
Great co-workers, all young and graduated from college

ConsLow pay
Very long hours (can be in the upper 50s)
Minimal work/life balance
Managers tend to play favorites and this hurts some employees' performances

Advice to Senior ManagementPay your employees a bit more so people will be more motivated to sell better and practice high quality customer service.

A great out of college introduction to corporate America.

Branch Rental Manager (Former Employee)
Long Beach, CA (US)

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThey do a great job of teaching you how to effectively run your own business all the while teaching you the basics of sales and marketing.

ConsYou're just a number -- easily replaced. You will clean cars in suits and ties. You will buy at least 3 pairs of shoes a year and you will need to fake it to make it.

Advice to Senior ManagementI'm sure they're doing just fine...

You'll meet great people and learn a ton - but you will be poor and have no work/life balance.

Assistant Branch Rental Manager (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA (US)

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for more than a year

ProsThey'll hire you straight out of college with no experience. A lot of employers are very familiar with the extensive sales and management training they provide, so if you can tough it out and make it to management, it looks great on a resume.

ConsYou're going to give up all hopes of having a work/life balance for literally nothing in compensation. As far as management, you'll either be lucky and have someone great - or you'll have someone terrible and your daily life will be hell. You'll also get yelled at and berated by customers everyday. To this day, I cannot believe the things people have the nerve to say to someone just trying to help them/do their job.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe kind - you were there once too.

The people I worked with.

Management Trainee (Former Employee)
Monterey Park, CA (US)

I worked at Enterprise Rent-A-Car full-time for less than a year

ProsThey really take care of you and with good performance it is easy to get promoted.

ConsDidn't like selling things that customers really do not need.
