I have been working at Fluor full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

They treat employees with respect and generally do not micro-manage you. If you are assigned to a project the pay scale is great.

    Cons

If you are a local hire you don't get some wonderful perks like employees on job assignment do. Medical Benifits are very expensive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Middle management needs to be more Pro Active instead of Re Active. Upper Management demands results and does not question how production results are obtained untill an incident occurs.

    Pros

Flex Schedule. Good Benefits. Great people to work with for the most part.

    Cons

High Stress environment. Work with many people who are "workaholics" and expect you to be the same way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop work from home initiatives to draw young candidates.

I worked at Fluor full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and you are in charge of your career growth.

    Cons

Behind in technology, resistance to change by long-time employees causes Fluor to remain behind, many managers are "old school" and require face time in the office (don't embrace working remotely) even though there is a policy on telecommuting.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update technology, force change in the middle management ranks to become more progressive.

    Pros

Located in California. The work environment is pleasant and clean. People are nice and friendly. I met the nicest people there.

    Cons

Traditionalist old company, absolute resistance to changes. Very difficult IT environment to work. I met some of the most obnoxious, rude, and ill-suited IT managers that I have ever worked with.

I have been working at Fluor (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Office culture can be pretty great sometimes, but the opportunity to go on business trips to projects in another part of the world can be pretty awesome.

    Cons

Being in the South, Cronyism, the good ole boy system. Also being in the South in a small market can limit your grown opportunities..

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give everybody their fair chance and don't expect anything more you wouldn't expect out of your family members.
