I have been working at GENBAND full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Compensation is on par with the industry.

    Cons

Feeling of being disconnected with the rest of the company. Not too much synergy between organizations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I worked at GENBAND

    Pros

Great people at lower and mid-levels.

    Cons

Too much emphasis and growth at leadership level and no recognition of the lower and mid-level employees. There are a certain number of Performance Levels, so management has to decide who gets what level and meeting those numbers instead of giving what employees deserve. Also, the annual Executive Leadership trips are WAY too extravagant. The last trip was to Bora Bora, however, there is no consistent bonus for line employees. Unless you were part of the Nortel acquisition, the tenure of a normal employee is maximum 2 years. ALOT of turnover in the mid level arenas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a grip about the actuality of the company concerning its direction and longevity. David Walsh has no committment to the company and will sell at the first possible opportunity.

I have been working at GENBAND full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Close to home and retail

    Cons

The lack of ownership and responsibility managers take. Seen too many staff level employees become the victim of a managers blunder.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pursue a culture which seeks to problem solve first, not look for something to blame. Its pathetic.

I worked at GENBAND full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Innovative and collaborative culture that offers a flexible work and office policy for telecommuters and knowledge workers and a decent work life balance.

    Cons

Product line and market are getting old and the company needs to pursuer new revenue streams in order to compete in the market and grow the revenue base beyond its legacy products.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Solidify a strategy to dominate in a particular market space and surround yourself with a team of people that can make it happen. Focus on results and team work.

    Pros

There is a Team feeling, Company wide. There is great teamwork across departments.

    Cons

The company tends to have lay offs on a regular basis. They also are growing rapidly and there are some growing pains associated with this.

I worked at GENBAND full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good people (both native Genband employees as well as the employees acquired); competitive salaries relative to the telecom industry and the region; acceptable work/life balance; decent career growth opportunities

    Cons

No unified technical strategy; acquisitions made to chase the next shining object; no willingness to take risk; most senior levels are brought in and "old boys club" - risk takers and disturbers aren't welcome in the leadership ranks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop acting like drunken squirrels and focus; get a CTO that knows the industry past 1995; take risks.

I have been working at GENBAND full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good life-work balance. Competitive benefits. Friendly and respectful people.

    Cons

There is no product delivery behind the marketing. Marketing is misguided and not aligned with what they offer. All products are at least 10 to 15 yrs old. The Nortel clicks are getting formed again.

I worked at GENBAND full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

People, leadership, market position. GENBAND's focus on R&D drives new market opportunities and positions GENBAND to remain a leader in its segment.

    Cons

Shrinking telecommunications market which keeps GENBAND in a consolidation vs, growth mode, competitors are plentiful in many of software and hardware products that GENBAND offers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to find ways to outpace the competition
