I have been working at H&M full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    Relatively easy work
People are amazing to work with
    Stylish products
Personal growth is slow at first but has been known to be faster than other retailers
Diverse range of customers are being handled
    Challenging at times but satisfying

I think the biggest pro of working at H&M would most definitely be the people you get to meet and work with, such inspirational management and focused team members of course there are those who lack focus but on the whole they future of the store is looking very bright and I can't wait to see how H&M will change retailing and shopping in Sydney.

    Cons

    Pay Rates for junior staff
    Lack of professionalism from management
    Poor attitude to staff turnover
    Serious misjudgement of various situations
Lack of organisation / too many people doing the job of one person

The main problem with H&M is the disregard of professionalism within both the sales floor and behind the scenes. When a company reinforces "Cup of credibility" and yet allows it's staff (both management and sales advisors) to act in a way that such "credibility" could be lost so easily, that's when people start to thing "oh yes this place isn't somewhere to be taken seriously" there's a difference between creating a fun environment and a unprofessional environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There's a line that management has to draw between being being professional and being "friends"

Treat your staff with a little more gratitude, essentially "bribing" your staff with assorted side benefits then telling them they should be grateful that they received such benefits does not do wonders for the image you're trying to convey to your own employees.

Acknowledge your staff and the reasons as to why they're leaving, you'd get a greater insight on what you're doing wrong to make so many people leave. Value and reward your staff based on their achievements not their age.

I have been working at H&M

    Pros

Pretty good pay compared to minimum wage in New York. Hard work definitely pays off you can move up fast if you are willing to put in the time and hard work. Pretty decent discount depending on where you work in the city many celebrity visitors. Good benefits if you are lucky enough to make full time.

    Cons

Long hours, overnights, messy customers to clean up after. Have to make full time in order to receive benefits. Make sure you're ready to kiss butt or become besties with management in order to move up. I was snagged a position because I was disliked.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop playing favorites when it comes to talent and promotions. Smh shame on you!

    Pros

    Great Company
    Great Benefits
    Love the atmosphere
    Fashion forward
    Technology savvy

    Cons

Hours sucks, the way that the GM does the time schedule is really messed up. One day I work 7pm-4am and then the next day they expect me to come in for 10am. How in the world can I do that when it takes me about an 90 mins to get home.

    I worked at H&M full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

H&M is a great company to work for if you're a sales advisor or a supervisor/manager. It's typical retail company in the the main work you do as sales (clean, fold clothes, work registers, fitting room, customer service, clean, clean, clean). As a Sales Advisor the pay is GREAT. Other retail companies pay minimum wage and don't give lots of hours, but H&M pays well and gives lots of hours.

    Cons

Customers can be the rudest, filthiest, and obnoxious people I have ever met. It's "high end" fashion for low prices so you'll get the Nordstom's crowd who expect the best service and can be snobby and you'll get the ROSS, TJ MAXX crowd who tear the store apart. Depending which store you're at you'll get out at 10-1030pm on weekdays or 1030-11pm on weekends.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

District team needs to get it together. Lots of district management give lots of criticism, but never work in the stores or actually see the problems.
