    Pros

I really enjoyed my time at HNTB. The staff was professional, kind and very good at their job. I learned an incredible amount and I was happy to have the opportunity for growth and learning

    Cons

I wish that the management at HNTB had pushed me a little more. Although interns aren't given a huge amount of responsibility it would have been incredible to be a part of even more of the projects at HNTB

    Advice to Management

Sometimes being a fly on the wall in a meeting or a call with the client is the best education. I learned so much from just watching and observing.

Turf protection by PM's leaves Engineers frustrated

    Advice to Management

Allow the engineers to grow under the PM's.

    Pros

Technical support and applications support are/were some of the best in any industry.
Solid business that is well respected in Project Management and Engineering.
Fair pay and decent benefits but falling behind in the industry where competition offers high pay and high benefit models.
Core business leaders outside of the IT structure still has strong leadership and is moving the company forward towards significant market growth in the coming years.

IT managers who are great at talking in circles.

    Cons

IT leadership from the CIO down to the support line managers are incompetent and should not be managing people let alone be allowed to steer the future of the companies once awe inspiring technology.

Corruption among IT managers and leadership who hire(d) in friends at higher titles and pay while demoting or squashing seasoned support and solutions staff.
Promoting managers and directors (yes men) based on friendships with no management (people)skills or competency .
A once incredible support team structure is now muddled and failing miserably.
Support metrics are being "designed" to squash staff and show non-existant gains and improvements.

Business seemingly oblivious to the "hijacking" of their IT and support structure(s).

    Advice to Management

Get your hands around what is happening in I.T. Talk to your few remaining IT worker bee's with 5+ years of experience who know how things worked during the height of their respect in the industry and identify the managers and leaders among them to help turn things around. The few who have been promoted are not capable managers.

Make amends, show some true integrity and things can still be saved.

Close the floodgates that are costing you some amazing technical talent before the rest of your seasoned staff are gone. Failure is imminent if something isn't done soon.

    Pros

Co-workers mostly good people. Some were very helpfull and honest.

    Cons

Some bosses are micro-managers, some are so negative they should be a Negative Rod in a Power Plant. No honesty and Corruption in the hiring process. Do not recommend to work under Architects in that firm. If you are friends with the right bosses you can be promoted. Promotions are not done based on Merit and Schooling.

    Advice to Management

Clean the House, Leave and let other people with Integrity take the lead.

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits, time off and paid holidays, although difficult to get approval to take time off.

    Cons

Revolving door of managers, nobody seems to know what anyone else does. Complaints about toxic work environments went from new manager to new manager with no resolution. HNTB does not fight for their consultants either when a client makes a wrongful accusation. I had to go to the news as a whistleblower for what was happening at the client site, as HNTB had no desire to fix the situation.

    Advice to Management

Hire competent people who will stay in the position for more than a few months.

    Pros

Great co-workers, great health care, decent time off policy, compensation was above average

    Cons

Leadership in technology division is out of touch and arrogant, excessive turnover within the department without HR taking action after repeated reports into the Integrity hotline regarding management

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Review the turnover within Technology and hire a third party to do an investigation to get a neutral opinion on what's reality.
