    Very good place to work

    Systems/Software Engineer (Current Employee)

ProsWork life balance. The team. Iconic company. New executive team is handling the challenges of the changing tech world well.

ConsThe usual big company problems - coming up to speed in a new area, having to find out (and explain to colleagues) the process to get things done.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep the course, Meg is doing well, a lot better than "slash and burn" Mark Hurd.

Overall a great place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGreat products, amazing people, strong sales and marketing strategies, good work-life balance

ConsBureaucratic culture, too internally focused, too slow to respond to market trends, silo operated

Advice to Senior ManagementSpend more time listening to what's required to make a success of the business and less time selling internally up the food chain, be more agile and remember good talent is hard to come by, reward effort appropriately and celebrate successes

Joined at the peak of its prime, only to see it deteriorates over the years...

    Financial Analyst (Current Employee)

    Pros- Work-life balance
    - People generally collobrate quite well at work level

Cons- Pretentious HR and management practices to give employees the delusion of the company's effort in looking after their career, development and compensation
    - So called training are patch of training modules uploaded online and self served. Quarterly training with topics totally useless, more aiming for ticking HR check list than adding real value to employees. Not even willing to pay for professional conferences and training outside
    - Management great at delivering mixed messages: e.g. never scarfice quality over cost saving. End result: outsourced work to cheaper locations and hire people on the cheap, ending up lowering efficiency and quality of output. Need R&D but cutting R&D budget...
    - Lots of people with deep experience because so many people are in their comfort zone and stay in the company for many many years due to flexible hours and relax attitude in the work place, thus not motivatd in pursuing career advancement or change. Career advancement is lacking within the company anyway.
    - Not as innovative as it used to be. (that's why deleted the word "Invent" from the corporate logo...) Missed the chance to compete with other upcoming IT companies and now impossible to catch up

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't need to do employee survey every year to ask why people are not satisfied with the company. Think and feel in their shoes and you will know why.
The lack of corporate leadership and winning strategy also make this place a demoralising place to work. Where can the company goes after no more cost and head count cutting can be done? What great products do we have in the pipeline to beat our competitors? There is nothing to be prond of being the market leader in a shrinking market...
Stop pretending you will do something about the dissatisfaction by just having fake discussions before and after the survey and then following it up with some half-ass action to make it looks like you try to change. It only serves for people to see you are doing all these to tick the to-do list for HR and upper management rather than really care.

    it was ok

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Melbourne

    ProsFlexible
    brand HP , good colleagues.

    ConsNo Career Progression
if you go and ask other role they say you don't have experience but if they can give tasks which you don't have experience at all because they can.

Advice to Senior Managementstop using employees for your short term gains ... it is very painful a person who invests 8 years in a company have to unwillingly quit.

Good decent people to work with, lots of flexibility to suit a family oriented person

    Finance Manager (Current Employee) Melbourne

ProsOffice Culture and Flexibility. Enough Good Managers to Choose From. Company tries to be a good corporate Citizen

ConsLimited Growth Opportunities in Australia with Globalisation and Offshoring Generally Expected for many Roles

Advice to Senior ManagementCan See Meg trying hard, but organisation is moving slow and too complex and bureaucratic that makes it not agile to meet the competition in coming out with customer oriented products.

    HP Review

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsLarge Multinational organisation that has a bredth and depth of expertise you can draw from as an employee to enhance your own career

ConsThe organisation is top heavy and very bureaucratic. This limits the ability to get decisions made at the coal with the agility required.

Treated well great place to work

Technical Support Engineer (Current Employee) Adelaide

ProsTraining, support and a good leave policy. HP is at the forefront of the IT space. Whether it is h/w, s/w or shared services they are a great company to work for. I would recommended having complementarity and certifications prior to starting to ensure a better remuneration.

ConsLarge teams, can be harder to be noticed. This does depend on what area you are working in though.

Advice to Senior ManagementOverall a positive experience.
