ProsBenifits, and thats only there thanks to Teamsters Union.

ConsAwefull Management, In the 4-5 years I have been there I have never been told good job, DSM,s and never get out in the market.
My paycheck has went only down since Ive started, almost back to training pay.
They are trying now to cut our commisions more.
Employee Moral is just the worst that I have ever seen

Advice to Senior ManagementWork with your RSRs from time to time, to see whats going on with your company.
Ask for feedback from your RSRs on whats selling in there market.
Check up on your DSMs.

ProsA lot of responsibility, depending on your position, supervisor, workload, etc.
Fun corporate events every once in awhile
Exposure to several brands

ConsRun completely by the board (Ripplewood) for a short term financial gain, which means many bad decisions are made that hurt the business overall, but puts money in their pockets in the meantime.
Very old-school mentalities--not laid back, kind of uptight, and plenty of discrimination

Advice to Senior ManagementSeek long term goals, keep yourself open to new opportunities rather than just doing things the exact same way you've done them in the past. History will repeat itself if you do the exact same thing that you were doing that got you into bankruptcy in the first place.

ProsBeing your own boss ,being able to choose your own hours to some degree. The amount of money you make is dependant on how hard you try .The money I made for not having a college degree was phenominal!

ConsThe worst part is the long hours and not being free to have days off whenever you needed. And sometimes the weater conditions were very challenging

ProsYou get payed on a regular basis
Health benefits

ConsGood ole boys network
Management devalues anyone under them
Refusal to recognize good work
Does not give raises to mid level management
Very bad moral among employees and management continues to just move around managers and rehire people known to be bad bosses. They refuse to clean house and get competent management. The get rid of anyone who seems to actually care about employees and the company instead of lining their own pockets.

Advice to Senior ManagementClean house. Get rid of Sales Management, Bakery Managemen and almost everyone at Corporate. Make anyone who wants a management job actually work in a bakery and in sales for at least 2 weeks. Get rid of ALL HR employees and hire people that will actually work with employess and management. This will help temper the union issues.

Proswages are good compared to other companies in same catagory.

Constreated like second hand citizens

Advice to Senior Managementpay closer attention to employees rather on yourself and what you can get.

ProsDecent pay and good benefits. Upper management was supportive and personable.

ConsTypical day began around 4 am and ended around 3-4 pm. The pay is ok but when you consider the amount of hours put in it doesn't look so good.

Many of the other employees were nearing retirement and they looked beat up and broken from so many years of physial labor and long hours. May be a good job for a few years but not for a life long career.

When you are out on the road you are all alone. The trucks are old and very cold or hot depending on the time of year. Many of the receivers have no patients and look down upon you.

It can be difficult to figure out your order for the coming week let alone the coming month.

Deliveries should only be made 4 days a week. Most of the times, Fridays and Saturdays, the shelves were stocked and little needed to be put out. This resulted in a day where you were basically driving around for 9 hours straigtening shelves. For a week as long as it is, one more day off would be great.

Advice to Senior ManagementNew trucks are needed, and they should be equipped with radios. (it gets boring on the road)

ProsOpportunities available for those with little or no education. Good benefits are available.

ConsThere are not many opportunities to advance in the bakeries, and most professional jobs are at the corporate level.

Advice to Senior ManagementDevelop talent, and pay for performance.

ProsMany long term employees with lots of knowledge. If you were around before or during the bankruptcy, you earned your stripes! Many are open to discussion - they may not agree, but are open to discussion.

ConsWe are too short term focused, especially in the field. Some field divisions its never good enough. You hit a home run, and they ask why the bases were not loaded first? Some still live in the past, during the glory years.

Advice to Senior ManagementField politics and protecting one's own are limiting the success that Hostess could have. Last round of layoffs pushed out some good people, who were cut because of politics, not because of work quality.
