Current Employee – been working at IBM
Pros – Network and Learning Opportunities within IBM (400K plus employees) and through IBM clients. Knowledge management capabilities. Invention and Innovation processes.
Cons – Lack of transparency and objectivity in management decisions about people. Changing course half way. Lots of brilliant people but lots of average people too.

Former Employee – worked at IBM
Pros – Benefits, variety of industries with which to work, flexible work schedules, prestige of the brand
Cons – Like most of the global mega-companies, there is ruthless adherence to the bottom line; the difference between IBM and others is that IBM is so much better at it than most. Support personnel are often treated as nothing more than numbers.
Advice to Senior Management – stop outsourcing and bring jobs back from overseas

Current Employee – been working at IBM
Pros – Ability to work at home. Project Managers can work on different accounts. Good health benefits package.
Cons – The Performance rating is unfair. Some of the Managers do not help with career advancement. IBM is sending some of the technical jobs offshore to India and laying off US workers.
Advice to Senior Management – Need to work on work/life balance with employees. Salaried employees are expected to work 15% OT with no additional pay, unfair.

Managers are good at middle level but lots of politics and indecisiveness in senior management.
They need to improve a lot.
very less HR role in day to day activities.
Most of the IBMers even won't know the respective HRs

Former Employee – worked at IBM
Pros – Nice atmosphere to work. Fellow employess are easy to get along with. IBM is reasonable about work/life balance.
Cons – The bottom line is prohits and always cutting cost. Doing more with less, year after year is the norm. Layoffs come quite often and many good employees are unfortunately lost in the process.
Advice to Senior Management – Be patient with the economys ups and downs. DOn't be so ultra reactionary to changes in the market when making cuts. This is especially true when dealing with laying off seasoned employees with much needed knowledge and experience.

Current Employee – been working at IBM
Pros – Integrity with customers. Very honest company. Not perfect but wants to do the right thing. IBM breadth of world class products and services.
Cons – Stodgy and has no idea that it is. Inward thinking, not enough blood coming from outside. Lot's of channel conflict because we sell so many different things and are competing internally for customer.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire more people at high levels from outside and instead of "blue washing" them let them change us.

Current Employee – been working at IBM
Pros – You can transfer at various locations internally. IT has a wide variety of roles to offer and working in lab is better experience compared to other small companies.
Cons – Employee perks are very limited. They do not have many extra curricular activities planned frequently. The employee benefits are very limited.
Advice to Senior Management – IBM should be doing more for it's employees and should make sure to match the salaries when a company is acquired by them.
