I worked at Intel Corporation as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits
Truly a place that emphasizes the work/life balance
Moving away from cubicles towards more collaborative work environments

    Cons

Transition away from individualistic work environments is slow
Company is large and occasionally multiple teams will work on same problem without knowing in-house solutions already exist

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire less managers, currently there are too many. They would be more useful in engineering capacities.

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Aggressive company that seems intent on catching up on the SOC fiasco of about 8 years ago ... still makes the best desktop and laptop CPU/GPUs in the world.

    Cons

Colluded with other companies to keep salaries low for more than 15 years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Executive VPs should solicit for processes that they should enforce across divisions ... rather than allowing disparate groups to keep re-inventing the wheel, and decentralizing too much information.

    I worked at Intel Corporation

    Pros

Good work. Good helpful team. As an intern i used to ask questions and was guided whenever necessary. The team used to meet for cafe breaks. And were very helpful

    Cons

As an organization Intel doesn't have any cons with respect to company values and ethics. But yes the work pace may seem to be a bit slow. But it gives its employees a comfort zone to work in and excel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Intel as a company has come very far. And its recent endeavors to dive into new areas and fields like IOTs and wearables is equally commendable.

I worked at Intel Corporation full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

This was my dream company and I had pleasure working for this company for more than 8 years. It had good work life balance, other than 3-4 month of stressful work at the time of the product launch. Talented folks around you. Had a option of work from home on need basis (Not for all teams). This is typically a process oriented company and too much document and have good company polices. Here where the pros ends.

    Cons

Intel work culture had changed drastically over years. Extremely difficult to grow in the organization. Over process oriented, nothing happens with out a meeting. Lots of meeting and emails. Use to have good work life balance, but things started slowly changing after 2008.

After spending too many years it would be hard to find jobs outside Intel, as the technology you learn would be too specific to the Intel (this is specially if you work in the core team). There would few hands full of companies where your job profile would fit.

Compensation is extremely low compared to the market. My salary was increased twice for the sake of market adjustment, but even then its still very low compared to the market of similar experience and job profile.

Pay raises are very minimal or some time non-existent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Respect your employees, fix low level management. Provide employee growth opportunity, and help employees build their skills.

I have been working at Intel Corporation

    Pros

Compensation is good. I think each department is different. My environment was supportive. Training and development is good.

    Cons

Because it's a big company, engineers have some choices to make about which department or product they want to be a part of. This leads to some jostling when things get reorganized.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make good use of status reports. Keeping workers engaged is worth it.
