Good till you get your green card

Analog Engineer (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 3 years

ProsGreat with Immigration. After you graduate, join Qualcomm or Intel to get your green card. There are very few companies which are this good at getting you a GC. I know that Qualcomm is the fastest. Once you get the GC, wait for 6 months and join a company where you get a real analog job. This advice is for Indian and Chinese immigrants. For others, if you care for the quality of analog job, this is probably the worst (Qualcomm is hopeless too). You must join Silabs or Maxlinear for good analog/RF. Linear tech is the best for ADCs.

ConsVery poor quality analog jobs, lot of politics, unstable business and organization.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop all the re-org mess and focus on stabilizing the org and to take over the markets to be a world leader again

Not what it used to be

Component Design Engineer (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 8 years

ProsPool of strong technical talent.
You can end up learning a lot if you land in the right team.
Lot of innovation taking place.

ConsLot of organizational politics hurting efficiency. There is redundancy and people look for their own interests at the expense of the company.
It takes a lot of time to change directions. Basically, very slow moving and resistant to change.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease clean up the mess. Senior management has the right ideas but the middle management is the bottleneck.

Inefficient with great benefits

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGreat technical people, great benefits, innovations rewarded, easy to switch to internal jobs even with different line of work

ConsIncompetent employees manage to stick around for years, inefficient in building products, people reinventing wheels instead of re-use (re-use not rewarded, innovations are), non-technical first level managers

Once great, the company is sliding into irrelevancy.

Manager (Current Employee)
Santa Clara, CA (US)

I have been working at Intel Corporation full-time for more than 8 years

ProsPeople are smart and mature and often a pleasure to work with. Work-life balance is mostly good, though recently a lot of groups went with "no working from home" policy.

ConsThe company is so big, it is impossible to make a change. A lot of time is spent on creating and re-creating slides.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet go of some "fat"... If you lay off 30% of people, you probably won't even notice the difference. A lot of people just stay there from one sabbatical to the next, with nowhere else to go.
