Advice to Senior ManagementTake more time training 1st time managers. I had three first time managers. Development discussions with them were awful. Many had a hard time setting clear concise expectations which was frustrating come review time.

    Graduate Technical intern

Graduate Technical Intern (Former Employee) Santa Clara, CA (US)

Prosexcellent peers and supervisor. exposure to most latest technologies available and get to see what exactly happens in the industry.

Conslot of chaos. doesn't let an intern explore beyond the job roles. Unlike the actual norm of interns are groomed for future positions uses interns to generally work on some random stuff to get the work done and leave.

Advice to Senior Managementcan venture into new markets and can be more consumer oriented

    Great place to learn

Senior Finance Manager (Current Employee) Santa Clara, CA (US)

ProsFantastic, talented co-workers. As a company, Intel really cares about employees. It's a large, diverse organization, so it's relatively easy to find new opportunities once you define your career objectives.

ConsLately it seems like too many people working on the same problems. Makes the environment less gratifying in terms of your personal contributions.

Advice to Senior ManagementSometimes throwing more people at the problem doesn't get you a new answer.

    Not a great experience

ProsGood team members and smart people created a good opportunity to learn

ConsLots of politics and red tape

    Advice to Senior ManagementNone

Good technology, good engineers, rigid culture, dull atmosphere.

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee) Santa Clara, CA (US)

ProsMany very smart people, lots of projects and areas to work in. Location choice (between California, Oregon, Arizona, Massachusetts, and a few smaller sites). Option to work from home at least some days.

ConsA lot of bureaucracy: weekly and monthly status reports. Not a lot of initiative. Ultimately, it's a manufacturing company so that side of the business dictates the rules. A lot of collaborative work involves participants in different sites and countries, so meetings, including regular ones can be scheduled at odd hours. Massive buildings full of grey cubicles.

Advice to Senior ManagementReward initiative. Replace rows of grey cubicles with something more lively, after all in the Bay Area you are competing with Google, Facebook, and Apple.
