    Pros

Great salary/compensation. Flexible work hours (as long as your work is quality and results are achieved). Friendly colleagues. Free whole fruit/soda/coffee/tea.

    Cons

As expected with large corporations, you must be adept at dealing with politics. Don't be a jerk, remain curious, and you should be fine. Work areas remain dull, corporate-like, and could use more color / creative design.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be open to change and innovation. Don't get stuck in the past.

    Pros

This company provides challenging opportunities, good benefits, and great learning opportunities.

    Cons

The ranking, rating, review and promotion process reminds me of a shark tank. It is too competitive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Trust good employees and promote those who work hard. Sometimes people get noticed for the wrong reasons. And nobody appreciates micro management, this is not a good style and does not promote good work.

    Pros

Great work environment and flexible hours. Connecting shuttle provides day trip between sites so that you can spend time with your family

    Cons

Increasing Internal Politics is discouraging innovation and engineer motivation. Following old time business model might not present bright future but change is not happening fast enough to catch up the current business trend.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the outside voice and understand new business model of 21st century, instead of trying to stick to what you have been having already.

Great place to work, when growing

    Pros

Intel is a great place to work because of its global scale, deep and knowledgeable employees and strong culture. Over a long career, I was able to live and work around the world and developed long lasting relationships with fellow employees. There are many smart people and good managers at Intel. If you find yourself working for one of them you will learn a lot and have many opportunities to grow.

    Cons

When growth is slow or even modest, marketing takes a good share of the immediate financial cuts and there can be a lack of clarity or competing priorities. Too many decisions need to go all the way to the top which shows a lack of trust in staff's abilities and adds many layers of bureaucracy while at the same time contradicts management's desire for shorter cycle times. Very few chances to move up given the long tenure of middle to senior managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Set the priorities and get out of the way. Stop the demands for constant status updates. Allow more decision making to be made at lower levels with the people closer to the project. Believe it or not, they know what they are doing.

Not for those who are innovative and like learning

    Pros

Steady income and good work life balance. If you want a job it's a great place as they have lots of reserve cash.

    Cons

Managers/Leaders more worried about their careers than producing innovative products. There is a general fear of being innovative and failing. There are lots of groups who compete against each other for projects. This creates tension between teams and as a result they don't help each others. Very odd way of managing business. Annual review process is more of a popularity contest than rewarding people for strong results. Their pay is typically less than most hi-tech companies. Sadly, best days are behind them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Too many people in the company for amount of work. As a result people are fearful of keeping their jobs and not looking for innovative products. Remove managers who can't manage or produce strong results.

    Pros

My team/ manager is great. Free fruit and pop/coffee/tea. Different job possibilities.

    Cons

Big company. Not very open space. Very hardware based less software. Disconnect with those around you. Internship groups not very existent. There are groups to join but they are hard to find. No intern housing. You have to do the searching and figure out how to get to work etc

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More connection between interns. Intern groups/housing. More open space. I feel blocked off in my cubicle/lab

Take more time training 1st time managers. I had three first time managers. Development discussions with them were awful. Many had a hard time setting clear concise expectations which was frustrating come review time.
