    Pros

    J. Crew probably has the best employee discount in retail. There's a list of new items that you can get for around 60% off! and it changes frequently. Also, 75% of sales during the change of seasons. Great part-time for college student to get some nice clothes.

    Cons

I personally hate retail.. It just doesn't come to me naturally, but if you're about that life, I definitely recommend J. Crew over other clothing stores. I worked at the Georgetown branch in DC. Everyone's pretty nice, but there's so many people and so many people starting and quitting.. So you probably won't meet the majority of the people

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I liked management for the most part. There was one that was a little catty, but overall it's completely manageable

I worked at J. Crew full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

It really depends on your management, but personal growth can be really encouraged here. The clothing is beautiful and the brand takes enormous pride in their quality. It is easy to sell the client on this.

    Cons

The hours are obviously not ideal. And as in retail anywhere, time off can be tricky. And as management can be an asset, it can also leave you very stressed if you don't have someone who believes in you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give employees as much control as possible. Check in with them emotionally as well. It can really help morale.

I have been working at J. Crew part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I love the company culture and the sales environment. It has been a fantastic job and I'll be terribly sad to leave when I have to.

    Cons

Being in a low inventory store in the south is a bit difficult because what our customer is looking for and what we have in store does not always align.

I worked at J. Crew part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

You know what is expected of you, there is a nice discount for employees, probably so that they can keep up with the strict dress code.

    Cons

The dress code can be complicated and a little more difficult than it needs to be. It requires a lot of money to be able to wear the things they want you to wear to work.

    Pros

The clothes are great and it's easy to work here when it's a brand you believe in. The store discount is pretty great too!
