Current Employee – been working at KPMG full-time for more than a year
Pros – Senior client contacts, string brand, challenging work, varied engagements
Cons – Never quite sure who the boss is (makes the decision). I have often got the client, two different partners and a service line head pulling in different directions. Very little working together across partner revenue streams.
Advice to Senior Management – Saying your career is all up to you may sound great in theory but in practice it isolates people, supports predatory revenue behaviour, requires employees to solve the problem when it is a management problem and abrogates responsibility for employee engagement. One dimensional behaviours and OMS game playing become the norm. It also encourages personality based self promotion and the 'quiet' performers will be left behind.

Current Employee – been working at KPMG full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – There's always variation in the type projects you can work on. Employees don't tend to work too long hours. There's a good mix of international employees.
Cons – Will not die rich. There is a high turnover of staff which they reply on with the exception on senior managers and above.
Advice to Senior Management – Much, much better internal talent management needed if they want to build and sustain larger teams and keep the high quality the firm delivers at present.

Former Employee – worked at KPMG as an intern for less than a year
Pros – Very supportive team, always booked onto work, and definitely a great way to learn about the company! They really looked at us all as future employees/graduates.
Cons – Work was a little boring (Audit), but that's more my preference as opposed to the company.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep doing what you are doing with the internship programs.

Current Employee – been working at KPMG full-time for more than a year
Pros – The skill I have learned since I started working at KPMG are too many to mention, they're always pushing personal development.
Cons – There is a serious lack of human empathy at this firm. If you are not strong of will, you will not survive. No one seems to care about anything that does not contribute to the bottom line. I think this would be true for all the big four and most of the finance industry.
Advice to Senior Management – I know money is important, but you have effectively created an entity which employees use to gain skill and leave, not to become life long members.

Former Employee – worked at KPMG full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Knowing the high turnover in audit, they really make an effort to help you enjoy your work. Also the big name on your resume is obviously a plus.
Cons – Just ask anybody working in audit! My main complaints were the rigidity of the work and needing to follow pre-set guidelines with not much room for your own input. Also the feeling that all your hard work goes towards a page on the financial statements that nobody really reads or cares about (99% of the time).

Current Employee – been working at KPMG
Pros – Professional, people oriented, personal goals are considered important, team spirit considered key and encouraged while maintaining individual perspective, excellent work ethics and work life balance is an important requirement.
Cons – may require long hours, will take some time to grow (until one proves one's capability), not the place for slackers.

Former Employee – worked at KPMG
Pros – If you are lucky to make it to one of the good KPMG partner's office. More than likely, you will fall in love with the place.
Highly focus on professional development
Well presented
Looks good on your CV
Good work-life balance in Advisory - Management Consulting Practice
Cons – Silo culture driven office
Too conservative
A big corporate after all
A touch of humanity is more than likely to be a fulfillment of social obligation as a multinational corporation, I can't say for the other KPMG office.
Advice to Senior Management – Influence your peers, being an auditor, accountant or advisor just like being an American, English-wo/men or Australian: speak the same language but in living in different culture. The common language is Authenticity: Genuinely care about the people, whether he/she is your colleagues, employees or clients.
Unbiased as an auditor supposed to be
Measured as an accountant ought to be
Advised as a true consultant.
Heart first, money second, fame last. Being a leader has more power than any others people to change the world. It start from YOU!
