I have been working at KPMG US

    Pros

    Good people
    Good office culture
    Good social events
Easy to transfer between divisions after approx 1.5 years as long as you play your cards right
    Good client base and exposure
All partner dependent, small teams with good partners are afforded a lot of opportunities, large team member at consultant level make sure you stand out or you will be just another number

    Cons

Compensation is below average, but that is their business model at the lower levels
Training is below average, in an effort to reduce costs every role is becoming more commoditised leaving people that stay too long feel like they are incapable of problem solving (some are)
Nothing is really bad in all honesty but know that unless you love your division and you can see a clear and reasonably quick promotion set through hard work that its not worth staying forever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on training, otherwise good firm culture.

    Pros

Some brilliant intellect that provides a great stimulating challenge and breaks the status quo.

    Cons

Some challenges with leadership due to partnership structure, creating a difficult political environment with conflicting objectives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop strong business objectives that are measurable for lines of business. Create a strategy to align partnership and reduce fragmentation.

Former Employee - Pursuit Project Manager in Sydney

I worked at KPMG US full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The salary was above industry average.

    Cons

I worked 50 hour weeks, and had to be flexible to travel to other cities at the drop of a dime, only to be made redundant whilst pregnant!

My team were all ex-Ernst and Young employees, including my boss. Because I had previously worked in another industry, and never at Ernst and Young, it was hard to join the clique.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't promise the world to employees in a job interview only to make them redundant as soon as they become pregnant.
