Great department, poor health benefits, great office, qualified management

Analyst (Former Employee)
Louisville, KY (US)

I worked at Kindred Healthcare full-time for more than 8 years

ProsThe corporate office is very nice and in a great location. The salary was pretty good and the working hours were consistent. All of the employees I dealt with were very well qualified.

ConsBeing a large company, things moved pretty slow, and there was a lot a red tape.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt seemed like Kindred was always pushing a new initiative. It might be good to just be consistent with the most important things.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Great job, great colleagues, great work environment

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Stoughton, MA (US)

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare part-time for less than a year

ProsVery understanding of work/life balance, which makes me hopeful that I can be loyal to this organization for a long time to come and potentially grow with the organization. It seems to me that there are tons of growth opportunities if you are willing to work hard and perhaps work at different locations (which is not challenging given how big and spread out Kindred is). Kindred seems to be a very forward-thinking organization, while maintaining a commitment to provide compassionate and world-class post-acute care to patients. Patients and families generally are incredibly pleased with the care they receive at Kindred, which makes me glad to work here.

ConsWhile I appreciate not being micro-managed and that full faith is put in me to develop and execute plans and hold myself accountable, some more direction and feedback would be appreciated. I occassionally feel under-utilized in my role.

Advice to Senior ManagementRegularly schedule meetings between all employees with their supervisors would be beneficial to ensure accountability, feedback and understanding of work activitires and growth potential.

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare

Proscolleagues are great for the most part

Conspaperwork and meetings take precedence over patient care

Advice to Senior Managementpay equity needs to be looked at, and these are the worst benefits I've had in a long time (and that includes my full time but just above minimum wage job when I was in college

You work HARD, You will learn ALOT

Nursing Supervisor (RN) (Current Employee)
Windsor, CT (US)

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare full-time for more than a year

ProsRate of pay is higher , Staff works well together and depends on each other to get job done, Staff will end up your closest friends as they are your main support.

ConsCorporate needs a huge overhaul,They need to take compassion training, Benefits recently changed and they are horrible, the deductible is one of the highest I have heard of in my area.Systems are repetitive,( But they have them. I give them that.)

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen writing a policy maybe personally try to execute it before you implement it?

Worst Healthcare company in America

Production (Current Employee)
Knoxville, TN (US)

I have been working at Kindred Healthcare full-time for more than 10 years

Prosproduction employees RN's ,LPN's, CNA's all work very hard.

ConsThis company does not care for its employees especially the ones providing the care and creating the money, It is cutbacks, no raises, no bonuses for the production employees but all the office staff continue to get the hours, benefits and are treated as the best employees.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere is no management. They draw the money but do not function. This Company lets underling office types call the shots and dictate without recourse. The "HOT LINE" for reporting problems is a JOKE. This company uses the "HOT LINE" to get rid of there whistle blowers. They give out surveys without the mail in envelopes and tell you to turn them back in and they will put them in the envelope. I'm sure the negative ones are reviewed and maybe the worst never makes it to the envelope.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
