    Cons

Organizational structure can be a bit confusing and lead to operational inefficiencies

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an intern

    Pros

Internship offered good work-life balance and strong interaction with management. Company culture comes through and program allows for exposure to several lines of business.

    Cons

Minimal cons to the position, is ultimately a great place to gain experience and learn as a part of a large company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to develop and refine internship programs, maybe provide rotational positions to increase exposure to business sectors.

    Pros

    Compensation, work-life balance, upward mobility

    Cons

Flexible working arrangements are hard to come by, office culture of needing to respond ASAP, even nights/weekends

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Close work with direct managers. Work is decently easy for college students so perfect for first internship. Work-life balance is great since limited to 40 hr weeks.

    Cons

Work was not as complex or entertaining as I was hoping.

The company is well run but the way they calculate annual bonuses should change.

I have been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people are generally smart and easy to work with. Management seems to run the business well, generally. The job security is pretty good.

    Cons

They base bonuses half on overall company performance and half on personal performance. This means that if you have a good year, and your division has a good year you'll still get a weak bonus if others divisions in the company do poorly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Clean up the bonus problems.

    Pros

Thought leaders in investments.. U work with the best here

    Cons

Health care is a big letdown. Analysts in investment firms usually have toes to nails covered. Here it's a big company healthcare plan.

I worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance

    Pros

    LM was great:
    Good Pay
    Very Talented People
Buttoned up culture (which maintained professionalism)
Lots of love for high performers
    PENSION!

    Cons

The acquisition of Safeco (and the subsequent integration) was brutal. I expected it would be though as the cultures weren't great matches. It made for some uncomfortable interactions.
The employee reimbursement for education was ok. It could have been much better though. It's nice that they offered it though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep on doing what you're doing.
