Boston, MA (US)

Former Employee – worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGood people, mostly good management, some of the EVPs and Presidents are very well intentioned but a bit too focused on the short term and $$$ to realize that the changes are not necessary in the best interest of the employees and the long term

ConsIn addition to the above, very much a "club" of those who have been there a long time and typically just for men. HR is overly processed oriented and can be rude. Culture is so polite not sure what is being said or if work is really getting done at times.

Advice to Senior ManagementOpen eye's more equally to long-term changes -- what are you truly good at? Stick to it. Open eyes to the "clubs" and the polite culture which is not productive and actually counter-productive.

Lake Mary, FL (US)

Current Employee – been working at Liberty Mutual Insurance full-time for more than a year

Prosstable company, lots of income potential and great benefits including a company pension plan.

Conscompany is aggressively recruiting, raising sales quotas and choking commissions for current sales reps in order to build a new call center and pay for the new people. Leads are being diluted and the monthly cancellations means you start working your way from a negative before you break even on your sales goal.

Advice to Senior Managementchange the cancellations "eye for an eye" policy, train customer service to do some retention work, like "GEICO" and help us keep more of our hard earned customers on the books.

Former Employee – worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an intern for less than a year

ProsAs a fortune 100 company, interns get to experience what it is like to work in a large and growing company. Along with many knowledgeable employees and various other resources available it provides the opportunity to learn a lot.

ConsAs with most large companies it takes time to get adjusted to company culture and procedure. There's a lot of acronyms to get accustomed to.

Portsmouth, NH (US)

Former Employee – worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance as an intern for less than a year

Pros* Training
* Competitive Pay
* Mentors
* NIce company environment

Cons* location (very limited for IT intern/ new hires)

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you plan on having interns maybe having a plan before they come, so we're not doing just busy work halfway through the program. I learned a lot of valuable lessons, but I felt like I could've been challenged a little bit more.
