    Pros

Lowe's is a large stable company. Lowe's gives multiple ways to take paid time off. They have a good training structure.

    Cons

It sometimes seems like it's all about the money /profits made and less about the actual employee. They sometime hire the wrong people for leadership roles.

The sales floor is meant for stress-resistant people, but can be rewarding ($). Receiving is rough but fun!

Current Employee - Lead Receiver Stocker in Pasco, WA (US)

I have been working at Lowe's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Varies from store to store, but can be a fun place to work and in certain positions you get a lot of exercise. The pay for sales floor associates is higher than most stores I feel. If you are very driven, intelligent, and immune to stress, you can move up very quickly and easily if you apply them every day and be selfless. If you're shy, it gives you the practice every day to have to make conversation and gain confidence talking in general.

    Cons

Can be very stressful if sales are down, and pressure is then put on everyone from the top down so excuses or mercy is not common-place. Department Managers are constantly blamed for things that are out of their control, like staffing, scheduling, and in some cases, are left to run with no support or coaching. Comparatively, the pay for labor and driving fork-lift in a warehouse (low-level receiving jobs) are considerably lower than surrounding jobs doing the same thing, and hours are minimal and cut during tough times for the store.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train Department Managers personally to ensure success, and support them as much as you can. They are the backbone of the store.
